The Salem Tiger Tennis Team will be at Mountain Grove today at 4:00 and Houston Friday at 4:00.

The Salem Track team will be at St. James for their invitational starting at 3:30 this afternoon.

Brad Miller tied the game with a 2-run homer in the 5th and Philadelphia rallied to beat St. Louis, 5-3 Wednesday night. The Cards and Phillies wrap up their four-game series starting at 11:20 this morning on KSMO Radio.

Jorge Soler had three hits and three RBI as the Kansas City Royals beat Pittsburg Wednesday night, 9-6 to split the two-game series. The Royals will have today off.

Robert Thomas goal with 23 seconds left gave the Blues a come-from-behind 4-3 win over Minnesota as St. Louis scored three 3rd period goals. Mike Hoffman had two goals and an assist in the game. The St. Louis Blues play the Minnesota Wild again tonight at 6:30 on KSMO.

The Salem Tiger Tennis Team were at Willow Springs yesterday and took 2nd place in the SCA conference tournament. Congratulations to Tatum Hatridge, Tristen James, and Logan Hubbs who all earned all-conference honors. The Tennis Team will be at Mountain Grove Thursday at 4:00 and Houston Friday at 4:00 before participating in the Osage Tournament on Saturday.

J.D. McReynolds of Sullivan no-hit the Salem Tigers Tuesday as the Salem committed six errors and dropped an 8-0 decision to the Eagles. The Tigers will be at Willow Springs on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 in a makeup game. Salem is 6-12 on the year and 4-2 in the SCA. The game can be heard on KSMO Radio and online at ksmoradio.com.

The City of Salem Park and Recreation Department wants to remind people the city park pavilions are reserved on a first come, first serve basis. Pavilion #1 with the fireplace is rented for $45 and Pavilion #2 is $35 for the day. Rentals must be paid in full to save the date. Call 729-8163 for information.

Carlos Martinez pitched 7 1/3 innings of two-hit ball and Paul Goldschmidt’s double drove in two runs as the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 5-2 Tuesday. The Cards and Phillies continue their four-game series tonight at 5:50 on KSMO Radio.

The St. Louis Blues begin a three-game series with the Minnesota Wild tonight at 6:00. Due to the Cardinal broadcast, KSMO will broadcast the dame on delayed basis starting around 9:30.

The Pittsburgh Pirates edged the Kansas City Royals Tuesday night, 2-1. Carlos Santana had two hits and drove in the only Royals’ run. Kansas City will play Pittsburgh again tonight.

The Houston Tigers beat the Salem Tigers Monday at the SHS Baseball Field Complex, 6-1 to eliminate Salem from any hopes of an SCA Conference title. The Tigers will be at Sullivan today at 4:30. The Salem Track team will participate in the SBU Track Meet starting at 8:00 this morning at Bolivar. The Track Tigers will be at St. James for their invitational starting at 3:30 Thursday.

The SCA Tennis Tournament at Willow Springs will be held this morning starting at 10:00 instead of Wednesday to beat the impending inclement weather that is expected that day.

Rhys Hoskins hit two solo homers and that was enough for Philadelphia to beat the St. Louis Cardinals and Adam Wainwright, 2-1 at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals will face the Phillies tonight at 6:45 on KSMO Radio or right after Salem Tiger Baseball.

David Perron scored a goal and had two assists as the St. Louis Blues beat the Colorado Avalanche, 4-1. The Blues will play Minnesota Wednesday night at 7:00. KSMO will broadcast the dame on delayed basis starting around 9:30 after Cardinal baseball.

The Kansas City Royals swept the Detroit Tigers in a four-game series winning Monday, 3-2. Kansas City will start a two-game series at Pittsburgh tonight.

The Salem Golf team will be at Mountain Grove for the SCA Conference Tournament at starting at 10:00 this morning.

Tyler O’Neil homered twice and Jack Flaherty went seven innings giving up a run on three hits as St. Louis swept the weekend series from Cincinnati with a 5-2 win Sunday. The Cardinals won in a rain delayed game Saturday, 2-0 behind John Gant, and a 5-4 win Friday night. The Cardinals will start a four-game series with Philadelphia tonight at 6:45 on KSMO Radio or right after Salem Tiger Baseball.

Ryan O’Reilly scored a hat trick as the St. Louis Blues rallied from a 2-0 first period deficit and beat the Colorado Avalanche Saturday afternoon, 5-3. The Blues are still one point out of a playoff spot behind Arizona. The Blues will Colorado again tonight at 6:00. Danny Duffy threw five innings of shutout ball and three relievers finished the shutout as Kansas City beat Detroit Sunday, 4-0. The Royals also won on Saturday, 2-1 and won the first game of the series Friday, 6-2. Kansas City will go the four-game sweep tonight in Detroit.

Due to circumstances beyond the control of the Park and Recreation Department, the Al Brown Complex will be closed until further notice due to safety concerns. The City of Salem Parks and Recreation Department recently hired an independent company to evaluate our light poles located at the Al Brown Complex and determined several poles did not pass inspection. Because of the hazard, all activities located on the Al Brown Complex will be canceled until further notice. The Salem Park and Recreation Department will work hard to resolve this issue and open the park as soon as possible.

Senior Baylor Petty threw a four hit complete game shutout over the Ava Bears as the Salem Baseball Tigers kept their SCA Conference title hopes alive with a 2-0 win over Ava. Petty also drove in both runs with a single with two outs in the 7th inning to provide the winning margin. Salem improves to 6-10 on the year and 4-1 in the SCA. The Salem Baseball Tigers will host Houston Monday at the SHS Baseball Field Complex. That game can be heard on KSMO Radio and online at ksmoradio.com.

The Colorado Avalanche beat the St. Louis Blues Thursday night at Enterprise Center by the score of 4-2. Jaden Schwartz scored both Blues’ goals in the game. The Blues are still one point out of a playoff spot behind Arizona. The Blues will play Colorado Saturday afternoon. KSMO will delay the broadcast of the game until 4:30 after the Cardinals baseball game.

The St. Louis Cardinals will host the Cincinnati Reds this weekend in a three-game series starting tonight at 6:20. The games on Saturday and Sunday will each start at 12:20. All the games can be heard on KSMO Radio.

The Kansas City Royals will be in Detroit to start a four-game series tonight.

The Salem Tennis Tigers took 2nd Place in the West Plains Invitational Wednesday. At the invitational, senior Tatum Hatridge took over sole possession for the most wins by a female tennis player in school history! Congratulations Tatum!

The Salem Tigers Track teams will be at the Ava Invitational this afternoon at 4:00.

Max Scherzer and three Washington relievers shutout St. Louis Wednesday, 1-0 taking the series, 2 games to 1. The Cards will be off today and come home to play Cincinnati this weekend.

The Kansas City Royals scored two runs in the bottom of the 9th to beat Tampa Bay, 9-8 Wednesday. The Royals have today off.

The St. Louis Blues will play Colorado tonight at 7:00 with the pre-game show at 6:30 on KSMO.

The Salem Tiger Tennis Team beat Mountain View Liberty Monday, 8 games to 1. The Tennis Tigers will be at the West Plains Invitational this morning. The Tigers are 5-2 on the year.

The Salem Tigers baseball game with St. Clair Tuesday was postponed due to inclement weather. No makeup date has been set. The Tigers next game will be Thursday at 4:30 when they travel to Ava for a key SCA Conference matchup. That game can be heard on KSMO Radio and online at ksmoradio.com.

The Salem Golf team match with Houston Tuesday was cancelled due to the inclement weather.

The Salem Middle School Track meet with Ava Tuesday was postponed due to weather and rescheduled for Monday, April 26th.

Adam Wainwright pitched seven innings allowing only one run, but Cardinal relievers blew a 2-1 lead giving up two 8th inning runs Tuesday giving Washington a 3-2 win over the Red Birds. The Cards will play the Nationals this afternoon at 2:10 on KSMO Radio.

The Tampa Bay Rays banged out 17 hits and scored 14 runs to beat the Kansas City Royals Tuesday, 14-7 for their second straight win. The Royals and the Rays wrap up their series tonight at Kaufmann Stadium.

The St. Louis Blues are scheduled to play Colorado Thursday night at 7:00 with the pre-game show at 6:30 on KSMO Radio. The Avalanche had to cancel the game Tuesday due to COVID-19 quarantines.

The Salem Baseball Tigers and Mountain Grove Panthers battled for eight innings before the Panthers edged the Tigers, 8-7. Salem never led in the game but tied the game four times. Korben Barred was 2-3 with two RBI and Baylor Petty went 3 for 5 as Salem falls to 5-10 on the year and 3-1 in the SCA Conference. The St. Louis Blues game with Colorado tonight has been cancelled due to a COVID-19 outbreak on the Avalanche. The Blues are scheduled to play Colorado Thursday night at 7:00 with the pre-game show at 6:30 on KSMO Radio.

Sports – Monday, April 19th, 2021

The Salem Baseball Tigers played in the Marshall Tournament Friday and Saturday, losing to Chillicothe Friday by the score of 10-4 before falling to Marshall Saturday morning by the score of 7-2. In the third game played Saturday afternoon, the Tigers fell to Clinton, 7-6. The Tigers fall to 5-9 on the season after the tournament. Salem will be back in SCA Conference play today when they face the Mountain Grove Panthers this afternoon at the SHS Baseball Field Complex starting at 4:30. Salem is 3-0 in the SCA Conference. After a four-homer explosion on Saturday, including two from Yadier Molina, in a 9-4 Red Bird win, Aaron Nola shut down the Cardinals on two-hits as he went the distance Sunday in a Philadelphia 2-0 win to take the series. The Cardinals will begin a three-game series at Washington starting tonight right after Salem Tigers baseball around 6:30 on KSMO.

Salvador Perez hit a 7th inning two-run homer and Brady Singer pitched six innings of scoreless ball allowing only two hits and combining with three relievers to seal the shutout and the win for Kansas City, 2-0 over Toronto Sunday. The Royals took three of the four games with a split of a double header Saturday, winning 3-2 Saturday evening on a homer by Perez after losing the first game, 5-1. Kansas City will host the Tampa Bay Rays in a three-game series starting tonight at Kaufmann Stadium.

The St. Louis Blues jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 1st period against Arizona Saturday, then Coyotes scored three unanswered goals to beat the Blues, 3-2. Sammy Blais and Tyler Bozak scored for the Blues who were scheduled to be in Colorado Tuesday night, but a COVID-19 outbreak on the Avalanche has cancelled that game and put the game Thursday night in jeopardy. The Blues have lost two straight and have fallen into 5th place in the Western Conference.

Sports – Friday, April 16th, 2021

Josh Arzt 3rd inning double drove in two runs and started a seven-run explosion that included five Mountain View-Liberty errors as the Salem Tigers beat the Eagles, 9-5. Kody Crocker and Collin Heavin each had two hits for the Tigers who improve to 5-6 overall and 3-0 in the SCA Conference. Salem has won four straight games as they will play in the Marshall Tournament this weekend against Chillicothe, Marshall and Clinton. The tournament will NOT be carried on KSMO.

The Salem Varsity Track team did NOT participate in the West Plains invitational Thursday. Instead, they will be at Owensville today at 4:00.
