The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers beat the Ava Lady Bears in three straight games Thursday night in SCA Conference play at the Salem High School Gym: 25-15, 25-16 and 25-16. The JV also won Thursday night in two straight sets. Salem is 3-18-2 on the year and 2-3 in the SCA Conference. The Salem Lady Tigers will play in the Licking High School Volleyball Classic Saturday.

The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers were seeded 5th in the Class 3, District 9 tournament that will be played at Owensville. Salem will play the Cuba Lady Wildcats at 5:00 on Tuesday, October 17th.

The Salem Football Tigers will hold their Senior Night tonight against the Mountain Grove Panthers honoring this year’s seniors prior to the game. The Panthers enter the game with a 3-3 record and are 2-2 in the SCA Conference. Salem is 1-5 and 1-3 in the SCA. The Salem 7th and 8th Grade Football Tigers both lost to the Houston Tigers Thursday night at the SHS Football Field. The 7th graders lost by the score of 8-0 and fall to 4-1 on the year. The 8th graders were beat 48-14 and fall to 2-3 on the season. The 7th and 8th graders last games will be next week against the West Plains Middle school at West Plains.

The Missouri Tigers will host LSU Saturday morning at Faurot Field starting at 11:00. Missouri is 5-0 on the year while LSU is 3-2. You can hear the game on KSMO Radio.

Robert Thomas scored two goals while Justin Faulk and Jake Neighbours also tallied for St. Louis as they shutout the Dallas Stars Thursday, 4-0 behind Jordan Binnington and his 24 saves. The Blues are now 4-3 in the preseason. The Blues face the Chicago Blackhawks in their last preseason game Saturday night at 6:30 and you can hear the game on KSMO Radio.

The Kansas City Chiefs will host the Minnesota Vikings this Sunday afternoon at 3:25. The Chiefs are 3-1 on the year while Minnesota is 1-3. The game will be on CBS TV.

The Bunker Lady Volleyball Varsity Eagles beat the Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers Monday evening at Bunker in four games. Salem won the 1st game, 25-23, then Bunker won the next three contests by the scores of 25-20, 25-21 and 25-11. The Salem JV Tigers defeated the Bunker JV Eagles in two straight games. On Tuesday night, the Lady Varsity Tigers fell to the South Iron Lady Panthers, 3 games to 1. Salem is 2-18-2 on the year and 1-3 in the SCA Conference. Salem will host Ava Thursday night starting with the JV contest at 5:30 with the varsity match to follow. KSMO Media will broadcast the varsity contest.

Silas Dubois teamed with Landon Richter for touchdown passes of 30 and 65 yards while Atticus Givens had a 25-yard touchdown run and James Lewis added a 10-yard TD run as the Salem JV beat Willow Springs Monday, 32-14. The Freshman lost to Sullivan earlier in the day, 16-0. The JV is 2-3 on the year. The JV and freshman wil play Mountain Grove next Monday.

Jakub Vrana scored two goals and had an assist on Sammy Blais’ goal, but the St. Louis Blues lost to Columbus Monday, 5-3. The St. Louis Blues play Dallas again this Thursday night followed by the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night for their last preseason game.

Carter Degon rushed for two touchdowns while quarterback Everett Campbell threw two touchdown passes as the Salem Tigers beat the Willow Springs Bears Friday night, 42-12. Salem is now 1-5 on the year and 1-3 in the SCA Conference. It was Coach Neal Myers varsity first head coaching win. They play Mountain Grove Friday night in Salem and it will be Senior Night.

The Salem Freshman Football Tigers will host Sullivan today at 5:00 while the JV will host Willow Springs at 6:00. The JV is 1-3.

The Salem Lady Varsity Volleyball Tigers will be in Bunker to face the Lady Eagles with the varsity game starting at 5:30 with the JV to follow. The Varsity Lady Tigers are 2-16-2 and 1-3 in the SCA Conference. The Freshman Lady Volleyball Tigers will be at Cuba at 4:30 today.

The Salem Middle School basketball Girls will be at Steelville today starting at 5:30 for 7th and 8th grade play.

Brady Cook went 33 of 41 passing for 395 yards and four touchdowns as the Missouri Football Tigers beat the Commodores of Vanderbilt Saturday, 38-21. Missouri amassed 532 yards in offense to go to 5-0 on the year. They will host LSU Saturday morning at 11:00 and you can hear the game on KSMO.

The Cardinals were blitzed Friday night by Cincinnati, 19-2, but then won their final series of 2023 by winning Saturday night, 15-6 and then edging the Reds Sunday, 4-3. The Cards ended the regular season with a 71-91 record finishing 21 games behind Milwaukee.

Kansas City beat the New York Yankees Sunday, 5-2 and took two of three games from the Bronx Bombers in the final weekend of the regular season. The Royals finished 56-106 tying the record for the worst record with the 2005 Royals team.

The St. Louis Blues lost to the Dallas Stars Saturday in overtime, 4-3, and will play Columbus tonight at 5:30 on KSMO.

The Salem Varsity Football Tigers will host the Willow Springs Bears in their Homecoming game at 7:00 tonight at Bill Schuchardt Stadium. The Salem Volleyball Tigers lost to Thayer in three straight sets: 23-25, 18-25 and 24-26. The JV will participate in the Potosi Tournament this Saturday. The next varsity contest will be Monday when the Lady Tigers travel to Bunker to face the Lady Eagles at 5:30 with the JV contest with the varsity match to follow. The Varsity Lady Tigers are 2-16-2 and 1-3 in the SCA Conference.

The Salem Football Tigers 7th graders improve to 4-0 with a 44-0 win over the Cabool Bulldogs Thursday night. The 8th grade Football Tigers also won over the Bulldogs, 28-6 and they are 2-2 on the year. The 7th and 8th grade Football Tigers will host Houston Thursday.

The Middle School Lady Basketball Tigers beat the Lady Jays of Viburnum Thursday, 33-22. They will be at Bourbon today starting at 5:30.

The St. Louis Cardinals lost to the Milwaukee Brewers Thursday, 3-0. The Cardinals begin their last series of the year against the Cincinnati Reds. Tonight’s game will be delayed until after Salem Football, then will be on KSMO around 6:30 after Missouri Tiger Football and on Sunday. KSMO will air the Adam Wainwright Farewell Program Sunday afternoon before the game at 12:45.

The Kansas City Royals fell to the Detroit Tigers, 8-0 in the conclusion of the suspended game from Wednesday, then lost 7-3 Thursday afternoon. The Royals lost all three games at Detroit and will end their season with a series with the New York Yankees.

The Missouri Football Tigers will be at Vanderbilt Saturday afternoon at 3:00. The Tigers are 4-0 going into their SEC Conference opener and they are ranked 23rd in the national polls. You can hear the game on KSMO Radio (AM 1340 and FM 95.7). The Commodores are 1-3 on the year.

Monday at Belle, the Salem Middle School “A” Lady Basketball Tigers beat the Belle Lady Bears, 22-16, while Salem ‘B” team fell to the Lady Bears, 8-5. The Middle School Lady Tigers will host Viburnum for a single game Thursday at 5:30.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers will be holding a fundraising golf tournament at the Spring Creek Golf Club on Saturday, October 7th starting at 10:00. This tournament is a four person scramble. Mulligans are available as well as on-course games, plus there will be food and soft drinks available. The cost is $200 per team. Richi Palacious had two-run double and Tommy Edman hit a solo homer as the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Milwaukee Brewers Tuesday, 4-1, but the Brewers clinched the National League Central Division title as the Chicago Cubs lost to Atlanta. The St. Louis Cardinals will play Milwaukee again tonight at 5:45 on KSMO.

The Kansas City Royals winning streak came to an end at six as the Detroit Tigers beat the Royals, 6-3. The Royals and Tigers play again tonight in Detroit.

In preseason play after splitting the games on Saturday against Arizona winning 3-2 in the afternoon and losing 5-1 that same night, Jakub Vrana, Isaac Ratcliff and Oskar Sunqvist scored for the St. Louis Blues as they beat the Columbus Blue Jackets in pre-season play, 3-2. Their next pre-season game will be in Chicago Thursday night against the Blackhawks.

At Mountain View-Liberty Thursday, the Salem 7th graders improved to 3-0 with a 48-0 win over the Eagles. The 8th grader Tigers lost to the Eagles, 28-0 and they fall to 1-2.

The Salem JV Lady Volleyball Tigers took 3rd place in the Licking JV Tournament held on Saturday. The Lady Volleyball Tigers will be at St. Clair for freshman, JV and varsity action tonight starting at 5:00.

At the Belle Cross Country Meet Thursday, the Salem Boys and Girls each took 3rd Place. Medalists for the boys were Alex Diehl in 3rd, Kurtis Dehart finished 16th, and Gavyn Green came in 19th. For the Lady Tigers, Kennedi Wallace captured 10th and Zoey Elliott took 14th. The cross country teams will be at the St. James Invitational Wednesday.

The St. Louis Cardinals lost to San Diego Sunday, 12-2 and will have the day off today.

The Kansas City Royals swept the Houston Astros in their three-game series, winning Sunday, 6-5. The Royals have won 10 of their last 11 games and will have the day off today.

The Missouri Tigers beat Memphis State Saturday, 34-27 to go to 4-0. They will be at Vanderbilt Saturday.

The Kansas City Chiefs bombed the Chicago Bears Sunday, 41-10 to go to 2-1 on the year. They will play the New York Jets Sunday night.
