The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers after losing the first set to Willow Springs, 25-16, rallied to win the next three games by the scores of 25-21, 26-24 and 25-21 to beat the Lady Bears. The Lady Tigers improve to 2-15-2 over all and 1-2 in the SCA Conference. The Lady Tigers will host Thayer Thursday night in SCA Conference play. The JV will start at 5:30 followed by the varsity match around 6:30. Ther varsity match will be aired on KSMO Radio (AM 1340 and 95.7 FM) and on KSMO Media including ksmoradio.com, KSMO Stream facebook Page or the KSMO YouTube Page.

Monday at Belle, the Salem Middle School “A” Lady Basketball Tigers beat the Belle Lady Bears, 22-16, while Salem ‘B” team fell to the Lady Bears, 8-5. The Middle School Lady Tigers will host Viburnum for a single game Thursday at 5:30.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers will be holding a fundraising golf tournament at the Spring Creek Golf Club on Saturday, October 7th starting at 10:00. This tournament is a four person scramble. Mulligans are available as well as on-course games, plus there will be food and soft drinks available. The cost is $200 per team. Richi Palacious had two-run double and Tommy Edman hit a solo homer as the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Milwaukee Brewers Tuesday, 4-1, but the Brewers clinched the National League Central Division title as the Chicago Cubs lost to Atlanta. The St. Louis Cardinals will play Milwaukee again tonight at 5:45 on KSMO.

The Kansas City Royals winning streak came to an end at six as the Detroit Tigers beat the Royals, 6-3. The Royals and Tigers play again tonight in Detroit.

In preseason play after splitting the games on Saturday against Arizona winning 3-2 in the afternoon and losing 5-1 that same night, Jakub Vrana, Isaac Ratcliff and Oskar Sunqvist scored for the St. Louis Blues as they beat the Columbus Blue Jackets in pre-season play, 3-2. Their next pre-season game will be in Chicago Thursday night against the Blackhawks.
