The Salem Basketball Tigers start their SCA Conference schedule tonight against the Cabool Bulldogs in a makeup game from January 15th. Sports – Wednesday, January 27th, 2021

The Steelville Cardinals had four players with double figures as they beat Salem, 70-49. Landon Mabe led all Steelville players with 17 points while Lucas Morrison had 16 points for Salem. Salem falls to 2-13 on the season. Salem will play Cabool this Thursday night at the SHS gym in a makeup game.

The Licking Lady Wildcats took the 2021 Big Cat Classic as they beat Salem Tuesday night, 56-52. The Lady Tigers fall to 10-7 on the season and they will be at Sullivan Thursday night starting at 6:00 with the JV game with the varsity game to follow.

The Auburn Tigers upset the #12 ranked Missouri Tigers Tuesday night by the score of 88-82. Missouri falls to 10-3 on the year and 4-3 in the SEC Conference. The Tigers will play TCU Saturday afternoon at 12:30 on KSMO Radio.

Brayden Schenn scored the shoot-out winner and David Perron scored two goals as the St. Louis Blues beat the Vegas Knights, 5-4. The Blues play the Knights again Thursday night after Salem Tiger Basketball.

The Salem Basketball Tigers lost to the Licking Wildcats Friday in the consolation game at the St. James Tournament by the score of 64-43. The Tigers fall to 2-12 on the year and they will be at Steelville Tuesday night to face the Cardinals. The JV game will start at 6:00 with the varsity match to follow at 7:15. Xavier Pinson scored 27 points as the #19 ranked Missouri Basketball Tigers upset the #6 ranked Tennessee Volunteers Saturday night, 73-64. Dru Smith scored 18 points in the Missouri attack to propel them to a 10-2 record and 4-2 in the SEC Conference. Missouri will play Auburn Tuesday night in a game that will NOT be heard on KSMO R adio due to Salem basketball and St. Louis Blues Hockey.

David Perron scored the game winner Saturday night as the St. Louis Blues got goals from Vince Dunn, Torey Krug and Jaden Schwartz and beat Los Angeles, 4-2. Then on Sunday night, the Blues lost 6-3 to the Kings. The Blues will play the Vegas Golden Knights Tuesday night after Salem Tiger basketball.

The Kansas City Chiefs return to the Super Bowl as they beat the Buffalo Bills Sunday, 38-24. The Chiefs will play Tampa Bay February 7th.

Sports – Friday, January 22nd, 2021

The Salem Basketball Tigers will play in the consolation game of the St. James Tournament this afternoon against the Licking Wildcats at 4:30 at St. James. Salem enters the game with a 2-10 record.

The Missouri Basketball Tigers will be at Tennessee Saturday night at 7:00. The Tigers enter the game with a 9-2 record and 3-2 in the SEC Conference. The game will NOT be heard on KSMO Radio due to St. Louis Blues Hockey.

The St. Louis Blues will host the Los Angeles Kings this Saturday and Sunday starting at 6:30 each evening on KSMO Radio. St. Louis is 2-2 on the year.

The Kansas City Chiefs will host the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship game Sunday evening at 5:40 on CBS. The Chiefs enter the game with a 15-2 record while the Bills are 15-3 on the season.

Sports – Thursday, January 21st, 2021

The shorthanded Salem Tigers lost to Waynesville, 72-47 Wednesday night to drop to 2-10 on the season. The Tigers were without Lucas Morrison and Braiden Carmack and had only six players available for the game. Salem was led by Easton May with 12 points, Levi Smith added 11 and Gunnar Konkel netted 10 more. They will play Friday in the consolation game in the St. James Tournament at 4:30. that game will NOT be aired on KSMO Radio.

Tomas Hertl scored for San Jose in the shootout as the Sharks beat St. Louis, 2-1 Wednesday. Brayden Schenn had the only Blues goal. The Blues play Los Angeles Saturday and Sunday nights at 6:30 each evening on KSMO Radio.

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers dropped a 69-32 decision to Owensville Tuesday night to fall to 10-6 overall. The Lady Tigers will play the Licking Wildcats next Tuesday in the Cat Classic in Salem starring at 6:00.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers lost to Fatima Tuesday night in St. James, 68-35 to fall to 2-9 on the year. Salem will play Waynesville tonight at 7:00. You can hear the game tonight on KSMO and online at ksmoradio.com starting at 6:45 with Tiger Talk and Coach Bryan Carty.

The Missouri Tigers beat South Carolina Tuesday night, 81-70. Jeremiah Tilmon scored 19 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the Tiger attack followed by 18 points for Mark Smith and 16 more for Dru Smith. Missouri is now 9-2 on the year and 3-2 in the SEC Conference. They play at Tennessee Saturday.

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers will face the Dutchgirls of Owensville tonight in a non-conference game starting with the JV game at 6:00 with the varsity game to follow. Salem is 10-5 record and they are 2-1 in the SCA Conference.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers will face Fatima in the St. James Tournament tonight. Since the Rolla Bulldogs and now the St. James Tigers have pulled out of the tournament due to COVID-19, the tournament will now be a round robin tournament with Pool A and Pool B. Salem is pool B with Waynesville and Fatima. Salem will play Waynesville Wednesday night at 7:00 with the consolation, 3rd pace and championship games to be held Friday starting at 4:30. Jordan Kyrou’s 3rd period goal snapped a 4-4 tie and proved to be the game winner as St. Louis beat San Jose Monday night, 5-4. Justin Faulk added two goals for the Blues who will host the San Jose Sharks again Wednesday night in the second game of their back-to-back series starting at 8:00 Wednesday night. The Tigers will participate in the St. James Tournament Tuesday night. Since the Rolla Bulldogs have pulled out of the tournament due to COVID-19, Salem, who was seeded 8th, is now seeded 7th and will face Fatima Tuesday night at 5:00. The winner will play Thursday at 5:00 while the loser will play Wednesday at 5:00. The Kansas City Chiefs overcame an injury to Patrick Mahomes in the 2nd half and held on for a 22-17 win over the Cleveland Browns Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium. Mahomes was injured in a running play and suffered a concussion. Chiefs backup Chad Henne the came on to secure the win. Mahomes and Travis Kelce each scored touchdowns for the Chiefs while Harrison Butker kicked three field goals. The Chiefs will host Buffalo next Sunday evening in the AFC Championship game.

The Colorado Avalanche blasted the St. Louis Blues Friday night by the final score of 8-0. Gabriel Landeskog had two goals to lead the attack for Colorado. The Blues are 1-1 on the season and they will host the San Jose Sharks tonight starting at 7:00. The pre-game show begins at 6:30 on KSMO Radio.

The Missouri Basketball Tigers beat Texas A&M Saturday in SEC Conference play, 68-52 as Dru Smith led the way with 15 points followed by Jeremiah Tilmon with 14 more. Missouri improves to 8-2 on the season and 2-2 in the SEC Conference. They will play South Carolina Tuesday at 6:00. That game will be heard on KSMO immediately after Salem Tiger basketball joined in progress.

The St. Louis Cardinals announced that they have reached agreements on one-year contracts for the upcoming 2021 season with outfielder Harrison Bader and pitchers Jordan Hicks and Alex Reyes, avoiding salary arbitration. Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed. They also announced that an agreement with pitcher Jack Flaherty could not be reached and he will go to salary arbitration with the Cardinals at a date to be determined.
