The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers are scheduled to be at Viburnum tonight. The Lady Tigers are 13-7 on the year. The JV game will be at 6:00 with the varsity game to follow.
The Old Miss Rebels dominated the Missouri Tigers Wednesday night by the score of 80-59. Dru Smith led the Tigers with 17 points. Missouri is now 13-4 overall and 6-4 in the SEC. The Tigers will host Arkansas Saturday afternoon at 2:30 on KSMO Radio.
The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers will play Mountain Grove Friday night at the SHS gym and it will be Senior Night. The NHL has added a St. Louis Blues game this Friday night against the Arizona Coyotes starting at 8:00. KSMO will join the game in progress after Salem basketball.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers game with Mountain View-Liberty Tuesday night at the SHS Gym was postponed. The game will be made up on Monday, February 15th at 6:00 at the SHS gym. Signups for the City of Salem 2021 Spring Soccer Season are now underway through February 13th for $25 per student. A late registration will be available from February 14th through the 21st for an additional $10 per child. The league is open to all boys and girls age 14 and under. The St. Louis Cardinals announced Monday night they have signed catcher Yadier Molina to a one-year contract for a reported 9 million dollars. It is Molina’s 18th season with the Cardinals. He is nine-time All-Star and Gold Glove Award winner, and has also be named Platinum Glove winner four-times.

Ryan O’Reilly had two goals but the Blues could not hold the lead and lost in the shootout to Arizona by the score of 4-3. St. Louis’ game with Minnesota Thursday was postponed due to Covid-19. The Blues will be in Arizona for their next two games with dates to be determined.

The Thayer Bobcats had four players in double figures as they outscored Salem in the first half, 42-18 and cruised to a 68-33 win over the Tigers Friday night. Garrett Connell and Braiden Carmack each scored 13 points or Salem as they fall to 2-16 on the year and 0-3. The Tigers will host Mountain View-Liberty Tuesday night at the SHS Gym.

The Missouri Tigers upset the 10th ranked Alabama Crimson Tide Saturday, 68-65 with a key block with 4.1 seconds left in the game by by Mitchell Smith. The Tigers were led by Dru Smith with 16 points as they improve to 13-3 on the year and 6-3 in the SEC Conference. They will be at Ole Miss Wednesday night at 7:30 on KSMO Radio.
The Arizona Coyotes edged the St. Louis Blues Saturday afternoon, 3-1 to send the Blues to their second straight loss. Robert Thomas had the only Blues goal. St. Louis will face Arizona again tonight on KSMO Radio starting at 6:30 with the pre-game show.
Tom Brady threw three touchdown passes in the game, two to Rob Gronkowski, and led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to 31-9 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl Sunday. The championship was Brady’s 7th of his career who had six with New England prior to this one.

Savannah Manthey scored 23 points as the Lady Tigers beat Mountain Grove Thursday, 49-19. Bella Jadwin added 11 points for Salem who is now 13-7 on the season and 4-1 in the SCA Conference. The Lady Tigers will be at Cuba Monday night.

The Arizona Coyotes stopped the Blues four game win streak with a 4-3 win Thursday night. Mike Hoffman had two goals for the Blues who will now play Arizona again Saturday afternoon at 1:30 on KSMO Radio due to Colorado being hit by COVID-19 protocols.
The Kansas City Chiefs will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Super Bowl late Sunday afternoon at 5:30 on CBS-TV. The Chiefs are defending the NFL Championship crown from last year while Tampa Bay has not won the Super Bowl since 2003.
The St. Louis Cardinals announced they have traded veteran outfielder Dexter Fowler to the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for a player-to-be-named-later or cash considerations. The switch-hitting Fowler played in 389 games for the Cardinals from 2017-20, and had a career-best 19 home runs and 67 RBI during the 2019 season, as the Cardinals advanced to the National League Championship Series. The 34-year old Fowler will be a free agent following the upcoming 2021 season.

Salem Head Football Coach Lane Howard has announced that Salem Football Tiger Wide Receiver and Defensive Back Dawson Mock will sign his letter of intent this morning at the high school library to attend Evangel College to play football. Mock had 43 receptions for 761 yards and seven touchdowns in his two years playing offense for Salem. That is an average of 17.7 yards per game. On defense, Mock had 94 tackles playing three years of defense with 42 of those being solo. He also had eight interceptions in his Salem career. Congratulations Dawson!
The Willow Springs Bears took advantage of 29 Salem turnovers in the game to beat the Tigers Tuesday night, 51-38. Braiden Carmack had 18 points to lead the Tigers who will be at Thayer Friday night in another SCA Contest with the JV game at 6:00 with the varsity game starting around 7:15 on KSMO and ksmoradio.com

A 15-0 run to start the 2nd quarter propelled the Salem Lady Tigers to a 67-59 win over the Lady Eagles of Mountain View-Liberty Monday night.

The St. Louis Cardinals announced Monday night that they have completed a six-player trade with the Colorado Rockies, acquiring five-time National League All-Star third baseman Nolan Arenado and $50 million dollars cash considerations in exchange for left-handed pitcher Austin Gomber, infielder Elehuris Montero, right-handed pitcher Tony Locey, infielder Mateo Gil and right-handed pitcher Jake Sommers. Arenado will retain his player option for the 2022 and 2023 seasons, and he has also agreed to a one-year contract extension for 2027 that would extend his contract to seven years in length.

The Salem Tigers and the Licking Wildcats tangled in the Big Cat Classic Friday night in Licking, but the Tigers fell short by the score of 71-58. Salem falls to 2-15 on the year. Salem was led in scoring by Lucas Morrison with 23 points followed by Gunnar Konkel with 19 points. Licking’s leading scorer was Wilson Murray who finished with 27 points. In a wild, high scoring contest Saturday, the Missouri Tigers outlasted the TCU Horned Frogs in overtime, 102-98 to improve to 11-3 overall and 5-3 in the SEC Conference. Missouri was led by Xavier Pinson with 36 points and Jeremiah Tilmon with 33 points. Missouri will play Kentucky Tuesday night, but due to Salem Tiger basketball and Blues Hockey, that game will NOT be heard on KSMO Radio.
Jordan Kyrou scored two of the three goals the Blues scored in the first 126 seconds Saturday night to lead St. Louis to a 6-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks. On Sunday night, goaltender Ville Husso got his first NHL win as Brayden Schenn scored two goals and Sammy Blais had the game winner as St. Louis beat Anaheim, 4-1. The Blues host the Arizona Coyotes Tuesday night at the Enterprise Center. KSMO Radio will delay the start of the game until 9:00.
The St. Louis Cardinals signed 17-year veteran Adam Wainwright to a one-year deal Friday for a reported eight million dollar incentive laden contract. Wainwright ranks 3rd all-time among Cardinals in wins (167), 2nd in strikeouts (1,830) and 6th in innings pitched (2,169.1).
The Colorado Rockies have agreed in principle to trade all-star third baseman Nolan Arenado to the St. Louis Cardinals for left-hander pitcher Austin Gomber, first baseman Luken Baker and outfielder Jhon Torres according to numerous major league sources. It is reported the Rockies will send the All-Star 3rd baseman to the Cardinals along with 50 million dollars to help reduce the 200 million dollar guaranteed contract signed by Aranado a little over a year ago for the next five years. The trade has yet to be officially approved by the commissioner’s office and the Major League Baseball Players Association.
