Roy Stevens went 4-4 with four RBI, Korben Barred was 2-3 with four RBI and Haiden Sanders was 1-2 with four RBI as Salem beat Willow Springs Thursday, 20-10 in five innings. Salem batted around in the first four innings of the game. Salem is now 4-4 overall and 1-0 in the SCA Conference. The Tigers will host Thayer in SCA Conference play starting at 4:30 Monday in Salem on KSMO Media.

The Salem Lady Softball Tigers shutout the Thayer Lady Bobcats Thursday at the Salem City Park, 11-0. The JV also beat the Lady Bobcats, 8-0. The Salem varsity now has a 5-2 record and 2-0 in the SCA Conference and the JV girls are 2-0-1. The Lady Tigers will play the Mountain View-Liberty Lady Eagles Monday at 4:30 at Mountain View in SCA Conference play.

The Salem Tiger Track Team will be at St. James today for the St. James Relays at 3:30.

Adam Wainwright pitched six innings of five-hit shutout ball and Tyler O’Neil homered and drove in five runs as St Louis beat Pittsburgh, 9-0 Thursday afternoon in the team’s season opener. Tommy Edman had a solo homer while Nolan Arenado hit a two-run homer in the win. The Cardinals will have the day off today and face the Pirates Saturday and Sunday afternoon at 1:15 with the pre-game show starting at 12:20 each day. The games can be heard on KSMO AM 1340 and FM 95.7.

Bobby Witt, Jr.’s double in the 8th inning drove Michael Taylor with the eventual game winning run as Kansas City beat Cleveland Thursday, 3-1. Zack Greinke went 5 2/3rds innings giving up five hits and a run in the start but did not get the decision. The Royals and Guardians play Saturday and Sunday afternoon in Kansas City at Kaufmann Stadium.

The St. Louis Blues host Minnesota tonight at 6:30 and will then play the New York Islanders on Saturday at 6:30. Both games can be heard on KSMO Radio, AM 1340 and 95.7 FM.

The Dent County Fire Protection District board of directors met Tuesday evening. After the roll call and approval of the consent agenda, the board reviewed the minutes from the March meeting and the financial report was presented that showed an ending balance at the end of March of $276,383.60. Bills, payments, and statements were reviewed along with the new budget being accepted as presented to the finance committee. After the calendar review, the monthly reimbursement report was presented showing a total of 32 calls for the month of March bringing the total calls for the year to date to 96. The department responded to one building fire, one mobile home fire, two natural vegetation fires, two forest fires, 13 brush or grass fires, one medical assist call, one gas leak, one vehicle accident, one smoke or order removal, one smoke detector activation, five calls that were dispatched then cancelled while in enroute, and two special incidents. In old business, after being reviewed and discussed, the policy and procedures manual was accepted as presented. The board decided it will be reviewed on an annual basis. In new business, the board heard a bid proposal from Williams American Construction for the 2nd floor restoration phase 1 and site safety. A motion was made and carried to go ahead with the work at a budgeted cost of $7,500.00. Before adjourning, the date for the May meeting was set for Tuesday, May 3rd at 6:00 at the fire station located at #2 South Main Street. The meeting will be open to the public.

A one vehicle accident happened early Wednesday morning just before 2:00 in Pulaski County on Route T about a half mile north of Waynesville. The report from the highway patrol stated that a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt being driven south by 20-year-old Isaac Haden of Licking, traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. Haden was transported by ambulance to Phelps Health in Rolla for treatment of serious injuries. The Cobalt sustained extensive damage and was removed from the scene by TC Towing. The report went on to state that Haden was wearing a safety restraint at the time of the accident.

The Missouri Department of Conservation has set the Spring Youth Portion of Spring Turkey Season this Saturday and Sunday. Hunting will be held from one-half hour before sunrise to sunset and the youth portion is open to youth hunters who are age six through 15 on opening day may hunt. Youth may also hunt during the regular Spring Turkey season. Youth can take one male turkey or turkey with visible beard. Youths who take a turkey during the youth season may not harvest a second bird until April 25th. This is because the bird taken during the youth season counts as the first bird for the first week of the regular season. Hunters can use shotguns with shot not larger than No. 4. They can also use longbows, recurve bows, or compound bows, crossbows and atlatls. Also allowed are hand-held string releasing devices, illuminated sights, scopes, and quick point sights. The Salem Community Garden will be offering a variety of Growing Green Educational Workshops from April to October. The garden is a place for residents to grow and harvest healthy food for their families, friends, or to donate to those in need. The Salem Lady Softball will host Thayer this afternoon at the Salem City Park starting at 4:30. Salem enters the game with a 4-2 record and 1-0 in the SCA Conference.

The Salem Tiger Tennis Team took 2nd place in the Salem Invitational Wednesday. Mountain Grove won the tournament. Logan Hubbs and Gunnar Konkel placed first in doubles, and Layton Southards placed second in singles.

The Salem Golf team will host the Salem Invitational this morning at 9:00.

The City of Salem Park and Recreation Department will hold signups for their summer baseball, softball and T-Ball leagues for children 14 years of age and under from now until April 8th at the Salem Community Center@The Armory. Adam Wainwright will be on the mound for the St. Louis Cardinals today as Major League Baseball opens the 2022 season. It is the 6th time Wainwright will start on opening day in his career. The pre-game show can be heard on KSMO AM 1340 and FM 95.7 starting at 1:40. Game time will be around 3:15.

The Kansas City Royals will also open their season today when they host the Cleveland Guardians at 3:10 at Kaufmann Stadium. Zack Greinke will toe the rubber for the Royals as the Opening Day starter for the second time as a Royal and the sixth time in his career.

The St. Louis Blues beat Seattle Wednesday, 4-1 for their third straight win. The Blues will play Minnesota Friday night at 6:30 on KSMO Radio.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol issued an Endangered Silver Advisory Alert from the Dent County Sheriff’s Department Tuesday for 76-year-old Diane Sharon O’Neel who walked away from her home on Route B in Dent County around 10:00 in the morning saying she was going to see her family, but actually has none in Missouri. O’Neel suffers from Alzheimer’s and was found Tuesday afternoon near Route N safe.

Missouri producers who have an active 2018 Conservation Stewardship Program Classic, CSP- Renewal or CSP Regional Conservation Partnership Program contract that will be expiring at the end of 2022, have until April 15, 2022, to apply for potential renewal of their contract for an additional five years. According to Susan Mammen, the CSP Coordinator for NRCS in Missouri, a total of 703 CSP-Classic, CSP Renewal and CSP-RCPP contracts are set to expire at the end of the year which help treat natural resource concerns on about 265,000 Missouri acres. Through CSP, agricultural producers and forest landowners earn payments for actively managing, maintaining, and expanding conservation activities like cover crops, pollinator and beneficial insect habitat, and soil health building activities- all while maintaining active agricultural production on their land. Producers interested in contract renewals or applying for CSP for the first time should contact their local NRCS office in Houston at (417) 967-2028 or in Rolla at (573) 364-2088.

Hospital serviceman Lucas Green, a native of Licking, Missouri, serves the U.S. Navy at the U.S. Navy Medical Readiness and Training Command operating out of Sigonella, Italy. Green joined the Navy one and a half years ago. Growing up in Licking, Green attended Licking High School and graduated in 2021.

On Tuesday afternoon at the SHS Baseball Field complex, Salem Tiger pitcher Branson Crocker threw a five-inning perfect game against the St. James Tigers striking out nine hitters, winning 10-0. It was third perfect game in Salem Tiger Baseball history and the first one thrown at home. The other two were a seven-inning perfect game thrown by Craig Pryor over Houston at Houston that featured a sun delay, and Grant Gordon who threw a five-inning perfect game at Willow Springs where he struck out 14 of the 15 batters he faced. Jimmy Barton had two hits and two RBI while Trethan Rictor also had two hits and one RBI. Salem is 3-4 on the year and will play Willow Springs Thursday at 4:30 in Salem on KSMO Media.

The Salem Lady Softball Tigers lost to Dixon Tuesday, 8-0 to fall to 4-2 on the year. The Lady Tigers will host Thayer Thursday afternoon at the Salem City Park starting at 4:30.

In Tuesday’s Your World Today, we incorrectly reported Kyleigh Wood won the game with a “walk” in the comeback win over Willow Springs when the story should have said she had a “walk off single.” We apologize for the error.

The Salem Tennis Team will host their Salem Tennis Invitational at 10:00 this morning at the Salem City Park. The invitational is open to the public.

The Salem Middle School Track team will travel to St. James this afternoon at 3:30.

Lefthander Steven Matz gave up five hits over 6 2/3rds inning to lead the St. Louis Cardinals to a 7-0 win over Miami in their final spring training game. The Red Birds finished the spring with a 9-5 record. They will open the season Thursday afternoon against the Pittsburgh Pirates with Adam Wainwright on the mound for the 6th time on opening day.

The Kansas City Royals wrapped up spring training with a 5-4 loss to Milwaukee Tuesday. They finished the spring with an 8-8 record. They will open the season Thursday against Cleveland at Kaufmann Stadium.

The St. Louis Blues will host Seattle tonight at 6:30 the game can be heard on KSMO Radio 1340 AM and 95.7 FM.
