On Tuesday afternoon at the SHS Baseball Field complex, Salem Tiger pitcher Branson Crocker threw a five-inning perfect game against the St. James Tigers striking out nine hitters, winning 10-0. It was third perfect game in Salem Tiger Baseball history and the first one thrown at home. The other two were a seven-inning perfect game thrown by Craig Pryor over Houston at Houston that featured a sun delay, and Grant Gordon who threw a five-inning perfect game at Willow Springs where he struck out 14 of the 15 batters he faced. Jimmy Barton had two hits and two RBI while Trethan Rictor also had two hits and one RBI. Salem is 3-4 on the year and will play Willow Springs Thursday at 4:30 in Salem on KSMO Media.

The Salem Lady Softball Tigers lost to Dixon Tuesday, 8-0 to fall to 4-2 on the year. The Lady Tigers will host Thayer Thursday afternoon at the Salem City Park starting at 4:30.

In Tuesday’s Your World Today, we incorrectly reported Kyleigh Wood won the game with a “walk” in the comeback win over Willow Springs when the story should have said she had a “walk off single.” We apologize for the error.

The Salem Tennis Team will host their Salem Tennis Invitational at 10:00 this morning at the Salem City Park. The invitational is open to the public.

The Salem Middle School Track team will travel to St. James this afternoon at 3:30.

Lefthander Steven Matz gave up five hits over 6 2/3rds inning to lead the St. Louis Cardinals to a 7-0 win over Miami in their final spring training game. The Red Birds finished the spring with a 9-5 record. They will open the season Thursday afternoon against the Pittsburgh Pirates with Adam Wainwright on the mound for the 6th time on opening day.

The Kansas City Royals wrapped up spring training with a 5-4 loss to Milwaukee Tuesday. They finished the spring with an 8-8 record. They will open the season Thursday against Cleveland at Kaufmann Stadium.

The St. Louis Blues will host Seattle tonight at 6:30 the game can be heard on KSMO Radio 1340 AM and 95.7 FM.
