Roy Stevens went 4-4 with four RBI, Korben Barred was 2-3 with four RBI and Haiden Sanders was 1-2 with four RBI as Salem beat Willow Springs Thursday, 20-10 in five innings. Salem batted around in the first four innings of the game. Salem is now 4-4 overall and 1-0 in the SCA Conference. The Tigers will host Thayer in SCA Conference play starting at 4:30 Monday in Salem on KSMO Media.

The Salem Lady Softball Tigers shutout the Thayer Lady Bobcats Thursday at the Salem City Park, 11-0. The JV also beat the Lady Bobcats, 8-0. The Salem varsity now has a 5-2 record and 2-0 in the SCA Conference and the JV girls are 2-0-1. The Lady Tigers will play the Mountain View-Liberty Lady Eagles Monday at 4:30 at Mountain View in SCA Conference play.

The Salem Tiger Track Team will be at St. James today for the St. James Relays at 3:30.

Adam Wainwright pitched six innings of five-hit shutout ball and Tyler O’Neil homered and drove in five runs as St Louis beat Pittsburgh, 9-0 Thursday afternoon in the team’s season opener. Tommy Edman had a solo homer while Nolan Arenado hit a two-run homer in the win. The Cardinals will have the day off today and face the Pirates Saturday and Sunday afternoon at 1:15 with the pre-game show starting at 12:20 each day. The games can be heard on KSMO AM 1340 and FM 95.7.

Bobby Witt, Jr.’s double in the 8th inning drove Michael Taylor with the eventual game winning run as Kansas City beat Cleveland Thursday, 3-1. Zack Greinke went 5 2/3rds innings giving up five hits and a run in the start but did not get the decision. The Royals and Guardians play Saturday and Sunday afternoon in Kansas City at Kaufmann Stadium.

The St. Louis Blues host Minnesota tonight at 6:30 and will then play the New York Islanders on Saturday at 6:30. Both games can be heard on KSMO Radio, AM 1340 and 95.7 FM.
