There will be a Veteran’s Free Fishing Day this Saturday at Montauk State Park. Project Healing Waters sponsors the event in partnership with the Missouri Department of Conservation and Missouri State Parks to provide veteran’s free access to trout fishing. Veteran’s must obtain and display a fishing tag that will be given to them at the Project Healing Waters booth. Come and join fellow veterans on the river and talk with members of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing group about their services and projects.

The Salem Football Tigers will be at Houston to face the Tigers in their first SCA Conference game. Game time is 7:00 and the game will be broadcast on KSMO Media beginning around 6:45 with Tiger Talk and Coach Neal Myers. Salem is 0-2 on the year.

The Salem Lady Varsity Volleyball Tigers fell to Owensville Thursday night in four games. After winning the first game, 26-24, they dropped the next three by the scores of 16-25, 22-25 and 20-25. Salem is 1-4 on the year and will play in the West Plains Showdown. They are in the red pool with West Plains, Springfield Catholic and Thayer playing at 9:45, 10:30 and 12:00.

The Missouri Tigers will host Middle Tennessee Saturday night at 6:00 at Faurot Field. Missouri has a 1-0 record. The game will NOT be heard on KSMO due to Cardinals baseball.

Ronald Acuna, Jr. hit two home runs and the Atlanta Braves beat St. Louis, 8-5. The Cards will be in Cincinnati to face the Reds tonight after Salem Football around 9:20, then at 4:45 Saturday afternoon and 11:45 Sunday morning. All the games can be heard on KSMO.

The Kansas City Royals will be in Toronto this weekend to face the Blue Jays with a night game tonight and afternoon games on Saturday and Sunday.

The Detroit Lions beat the Kansas City Chiefs to open the season Thursday night, 21-20. The Chiefs play Jacksonville on September 17th.

The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers will host Owensville tonight at the SHS Gym and KSMO Media will video stream the varsity game around 6:30. the freshman game will begin at 4:45 followed by the JV contest. The Lady Tigers 1-3 on the year.

The Salem 7th and 8th Grade Football Tigers open their season at Willow Springs at 5:30 today.

Nolan Gorman hit a three-run homer, Paul Goldschmidt hit a two-run shot while Masyn Winn and Willson Contreras each hit solo shots as St. Louis beat Atlanta Thursday, 11-6. The Cards go for the sweep tonight at 5:25 on KSMO

The Chicago White Sox had 14 hits and Oscar Colas’ 7th inning homer proved to be the difference as Chicago beat the Royals, 6-4. Kansas City will have the day off today.

Tyson Conners scored on touchdown runs of 10 and 30 yards, plus had an interception on defense as the Salem JV beat Cabool’s JV, 30-12 Tuesday night. Andrew Harris and Sylis Dubois also had touchdowns for Salem who is 1-1 on the year. They play at Houston Monday.

Nolan Gorman hit two homers to help lead the St. Louis Cardinals to a 10-6 win over Atlanta Tuesday night. Tyler O’Neill and Jordan Walker also homered for the Cardinals who will play the Braves again tonight at 5:25 on KSMO Radio.

Trailing 6-0 in the 3rd inning, the Kansas City Royals fought back and beat the Chicago White Sox with two runs in the bottom of the 9th inning, 7-6. The winning run came home on a balk. The Royals go for the sweep against the White Sox tonight at Kaufmann Stadium.

The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers will be in Eminence tonight for a varsity only game at 6:30. The Lady Tigers 1-2 on the year.

The Salem Football Tigers fell to the Panthers of Knob Noster Friday night by the score of 46-0. Salem falls to 0-2 on the year and will be at Houston for their first SCA Conference game.

The Salem JV Football Tigers will be at Cabool tonight at 6:00 to face the Bulldogs. Game time is set for 6:00. Salem is 0-1 on the year.

The St. Louis Cardinals will be in Atlanta tonight to start a three-game series with the Braves beginning at 5:25 on KSMO Radio. The Cards had Monday off and beat Pittsburgh on Sunday, 6-4.

Edward Oliveras had two home runs and Cole Ragens pitched six-innings of one-hit shutout ball as the Kansas City Royals pounded the Chicago White Sox Monday, 12-1. Ragens shutout streak is now 21 innings which is the longest in the major leagues. Nelson Velazquez had a two-run homer for KC as they play the White Sox tonight.

The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers lost to Sullivan in three straight games: 15-25, 16-25 and 19-25. The Varsity Lady Tigers are 1-2 on the year and play Eminence Tuesday at 6:30.

The Missouri Football Tigers beat South Dakota Thursday night in their opener by the score of 35-10. The Tigers will play Middle Tennessee Saturday, September 9th at 6:00.

Tommy Edman’s two-run, two out 9th inning homer gave the St. Louis Cardinals a 5-4 win over San Diego Wednesday afternoon. It was the second straight game for Edman to drive in the winning run in “walk-off” fashion. The Cardinals will be off today.

The Pittsburgh Pirates swept the Kansas City Royals in a three game series, winning last night, 4-1. Bobby Witt hit a solo homer for the only run for the Royals who will be off today.

The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers defeated St. James Tuesday by the scores of 25-10, 23-25, 25-15 and 25-14. The JV also won in two sets. Congratulations to Coach DeAnna Atkinson on his first high school coaching win. The Lady Tigers play at Sullivan Thursday.

Cole Ragens pitched seven innings of three-hit ball for the Royals, but Pittsburgh scored two in the 8^th inning and four more in the 9^th inning to beat Kansas City Tuesday, 6-3. The Royals and Pirates play tonight in Kansas City.

The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers fell to Winona Monday night in three straight games: 16-25, 21-25 and 21-25. The Lady Tigers will be at St. James tonight with the JV game at 5:00 with the varsity match to follow.

The Salem JV Football Tigers battled the St. James Tigers Monday night at the SHS Field and came up short, 14-0. Their next game will be at Cabool on Tuesday, September 5th starting at 6:00.

Blake Snell pitched seven innings of two hit ball leading San Diego to a 4-1 win over St. Louis Monday night. Paul Goldschmidt’s homer was the only Cardinals run. The Cards and Padres tangle again tonight at 5:50 on KSMO Radio.

The Kansas City Royals were shutout on two hits by Pittsburgh Monday, 5-0. The Royals and Pirates play again tonight at Kaufmann Stadium.

The Salem Football Tigers had five fumbles lost in their opening game against St. James with the Red Tigers scoring on three of the fumbles, two of them within 1:21 of each other in the 3rd quarter, en route to a 44-0 St. James win. Blaine Noakes rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns, Cooper Harlan was 16-21 with with 2 TD passes and one interception. Salem is 0-1 and will be at Knob Noster Friday night.

Aaron Nola continues his dominance over St. Louis going seven innings giving up one hit as Philadelphia beat St. Louis Sunday, 3-0 and swept the three game series. The Cardinals begin a three-game series with San Diego tonight right after Lady Tiger Volleyball on KSMO Radio.

Nelson Velázquez hit a two-run homer for Kansas City, but it wasn’t enough as the Seattle Mariners rallied to beat the Royals, 3-2 and sweep the three-game series. The Royals will host the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight at Kaufmann Stadium.

Harrison Butker’s 35-yard field goal with 1:52 left in the game gave the Kansas City Chiefs a 33-32 preseason win over the Cleveland Browns at Arrowhead Stadium. Former Mizzou Tiger QB Blaine Gabbert was 10-18 for 169 yards and two touchdowns and an interception. The Chiefs open the season September 7th against Detroit.

The Salem High School Football tonight against St. James will begin at 8:00 due to the extreme heat. Registration for the Salem Park and Recreation Department flag football and cheerleading is going on now through August 31st. The cost is $35 for flag football which includes a shirt while the cost for cheerleading is $45 which includes a shirt and pom poms. The St. Louis Cardinals had Thursday off and they will start a three-game series with Philadelphia this evening. The game will be heard on KSMO after Salem Tiger Football around 10:30 this evening. The Cardinals play the Phillies this Saturday at 5:20 and Sunday at 11:40 with both games airing on KSMO Radio.

The Royals had Thursday off as well and begin a three-game series at Seattle tonight.

The Kansas City Chiefs continue their pre-season schedule Saturday against the Cleveland Browns at 12:00 noon. Kansas City is 1-1 in the preseason while the Browns are 1-1-1.
