The Salem Football Tigers had five fumbles lost in their opening game against St. James with the Red Tigers scoring on three of the fumbles, two of them within 1:21 of each other in the 3rd quarter, en route to a 44-0 St. James win. Blaine Noakes rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns, Cooper Harlan was 16-21 with with 2 TD passes and one interception. Salem is 0-1 and will be at Knob Noster Friday night.

The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers open their season tonight against Winona at the SHS Gym. This will only be a varsity game tonight. The game can be heard on KSMO Radio (AM 1340 and FM 95.7) and video streamed on KSMO Media. Game time is set for 5:30 and the broadcast will begin at about 5:20 with Tiger Talk and Coach Deanna Atkinson.

Aaron Nola continues his dominance over St. Louis going seven innings giving up one hit as Philadelphia beat St. Louis Sunday, 3-0 and swept the three game series. The Cardinals begin a three-game series with San Diego tonight right after Lady Tiger Volleyball on KSMO Radio.

Nelson Velázquez hit a two-run homer for Kansas City, but it wasn’t enough as the Seattle Mariners rallied to beat the Royals, 3-2 and sweep the three-game series. The Royals will host the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight at Kaufmann Stadium.

Harrison Butker’s 35-yard field goal with 1:52 left in the game gave the Kansas City Chiefs a 33-32 preseason win over the Cleveland Browns at Arrowhead Stadium. Former Mizzou Tiger QB Blaine Gabbert was 10-18 for 169 yards and two touchdowns and an interception. The Chiefs open the season September 7th against Detroit.
