Sports – Friday, April 12th, 2024

Cayden Moody’s RBI double in the 3rd inning drove in the only run as Blake Edwards and Roy Stevens combined on a 3-hit shutout as Salem beat Thayer, 1-0. Salem is 8-2 overall and 4-0 in the SCA Conference. Salem will be at Waynesville this afternoon at 4:30. The game will Not be heard on KSMO Radio.

The Salem Track teams will be at Owensville today starting at 2:30 for a track meet.

The St. Louis Cardinals will be in Arizona to face the Diamondbacks this weekend starting tonight at 7:45. The Cards will also play Saturday at 6:15 and Sunday at 2:15, and all the games can be heard on KSMO Radio.

Kansas City swept the Houston Astros winning Thursday, 13-3 for their 7th straight win. They Royals will be in New York to face the Mets.

The St. Louis Blues will continue their playoff quest tonight against Carolina and Sunday against Seattle. Those games will NOT be heard on KSMO due to St. Louis Cardinal Baseball.

Sports – Thursday, April 11th, 2024

The Salem Baseball Tigers are scheduled to play Thayer today at 4:30 at the SHS Baseball Field Complex. If played, the game can be heard on KSMO radio and video streamed on KSMO Media. Salem enters the game with a 7-2 record overall and 3-0 in the SCA Conference. Thayer is 2-3 coming into the game.

The Salem Lady Softball Tigers lost their seventh straight game as they fell to the Licking Lady Wildcats Tuesday, 16-6. The Lady Tigers are 2-8 on the year and they will be off until Monday when they play at Mountain Grove.

The Salem Tennis Tigers will host Licking today beginning at 4:00 at the Salem City Park.

The Middle School Track meet Wednesday Cuba was canceled and will not be made up.

The St. Louis Cardinals lost to the Philadelphia Phillies Wednesday, 4-3. Ivan Herrera and Brendan Donovan homered for St. Louis who will have the day off today.

The Royals earned their sixth straight win beating Houston Wednesday, 11-2. Kansas City goes for the sweep this afternoon.

Jordan Kyrou scored two goals as St. Louis scored on their first four shots and beat Chicago, 5-2. They play Carolina Friday night.

Kaiden Dubois pitched a one-hit shutout and also had two hits and drove home two runs as the Salem Tigers beat the Willow Springs Bears Tuesday, 5-0. Owen Hamilton had two hits and two RBI and Tre Richter drove in the other Salem run as they improve to 7-2 on the season and 3-0 in the SCA Conference. The Tigers will host Thayer Thursday at 4:30 at the SHS Baseball Complex.

Congratulations to the Golf Team for finishing 3rd at the Cabool Invitational! Jamal Metcalf tied for 5th place and Landen Richter finished 7th overall!

Kenyon Cook homered while Kellar Davis pitched a five-hit complete game as the Licking Wildcats beat Salem Monday, 7-1. Cook, Silas Antle and Austin Stephens each had two hits for the Wildcats who improve to 9-1 this season. Kaiden Dubois had two hits for the Tigers. Salem falls to 6-2 on the year and they will host Willow Springs this afternoon at 4:30 at the SHS Field. The Bears are 4-7 on the year. The Miami Marlins won their first game of the year jumping out to 7-0 lead Sunday, beating the St. Louis Cardinals, 10-3. Nolan Gorman had two homers and three RBI for St. Louis who will host Philadelphia tonight at 6:45 on KSMO Radio after Salem Tiger Baseball.

The Kansas City Royals completed the four-game sweep over the Chicago White Sox as MJ Melendez hit a two-run homer in the 7th inning to give the Royals the lead for good. The Royals are off today.

The Salem Lady Softball Tigers lost to the Willow Springs Lady Bears Thursday at the Salem City Park, 19-6. Kyleigh Wood had two hits and three RBI for Salem who falls to 2-7 on the year. The Lady Tigers play Licking Tuesday at 5:00 at the Salem City Park.

It took nine innings, but the Salem Tigers beat the Cabool Bulldogs, 9-7 in a game that saw each team commit 4 errors with the lead changing six times. Salem is now 6-1 on the year and 2-0 in the SCA Conference. The next Salem game will be Monday at Licking. That game will a radio only game on KSMO Radio.

The Salem Tennis Tigers’ Salem Invitational is this morning at 9:00 at the Salem City Park.

The St. Louis Cardinals got a two-run double from Nolan Gorman, an RBI triple from rookie Masyn Winn and run-scoring singles from Iván Herrera and Alec Burleson in a five-run seventh leading them to an 8-5 win over Miami. Herrera also homered in the game for St. Louis who will host Miami Saturday and Sunday at 12:20 each day on KSMO Radio.

The Kansas City Royals scored eight runs in the 7th inning and bomb the Chicago White Sox, 10-1. The Royals and White Sox continue their series this weekend at Kaufmann Stadium.

Filip Forsberg scored two goals and the Nashville Predators secured their playoff position with a 6-3 win over St. Louis. The Blues play San Jose Saturday at 5:00 and Anaheim Sunday at 6:30 on KSMO.

The Lady Tigers will host Willow Springs today at 4:30 starting with with Tiger talk and Coach Rebekah Hayes at 4:20. Salem enters the game with a 2-6 record & 0-2 in the SCA Conference. The game will be video streamed on KSMO Media ONLY due to Opening Day for the Cardinals.

Kyle Higoshioka’s home run in the 4th inning proved to be the difference as San Diego beat St. Louis Wednesday, 3-2. The Cards will host the Miami Marlins today in their home opener at 1:35 on KSMO Radio.

James McCann’s two-run single in the bottom of the 9th inning gave Baltimore a 4-3 win over Kansas City Wednesday. The Royals will start a four-game series with the Chicago White Sox tonight at Kaufmann Stadium.

The Blues will be at Nashville tonight at 7:00. KSMO will join the game after the Cardinal baseball game.

Alec Marsh notched his first career win as a starter pitching seven innings of two-hit ball as Kansas City beat Baltimore, 4-1. The Royals and Orioles play this afternoon in Baltimore in the rubber game series.
