The Salem Lady Tiger Softball Tigers will play Union today at 4:30 at the Salem City Park Field. The girls will begin Class 3 district play on Wednesday, October 14th in Sullivan when the Lady Tigers will play the 5th seeded Cuba Lady Wildcats starting at 3:30. Salem is seeded 4th in that district tournament.

The Missouri Tiger Football game this Saturday against the #17 ranked LSU Tigers has been moved to Columbia and will begin at 11:00 in the morning due to the pending impact of Hurricane Delta on Louisiana. You can hear the pre-game show on KSMO Radio at 10:00. Missouri is 0-2 on the year.

The Salem Lady Tiger Softball Tigers improved to 9-8 with an 11-7 win over St. James Tuesday in a makeup game at the Salem City Park. The Salem JV dropped a 14-13 decision to St. James Tuesday. Salem will play Union Thursday at 4:30 at the Salem City Park Field. The girls will begin district play on Wednesday, October 14th in Sullivan.

The Kansas City Chiefs beat the New England Patriots Monday night in a makeup game from Sunday, 26-10. The win makes the fourth straight year the Chiefs have started the season with at least four straight wins. Patrick Mahomes threw two short touchdown passes to Tyreek Hill and Mecole Hardman. Tyrann Mathieu returned an interception for a touchdown as New England committed four turnovers in the game. The Chiefs will host the Raiders this Sunday at noon.

The Salem Lady Softball Tigers beat St. Clair Monday, 6-1 to go to 8-8 on the year. The Lady Softball Tigers will play a makeup game with St. James this afternoon at 4:30 at Salem.

The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers lost to Bunker Monday three games to 1. The JV teams split in their play. Salem will play at Licking Saturday.

Sports – Monday, October 5, 2020

The Salem Football Tigers beat the Willow Springs Bears Friday night by the score of 27-12. Salem is now 3-3 on the year and they will be at Mountain Grove Friday in SCA Conference play.

The Salem Lady Softball Tigers tournament at Linn Saturday was cancelled. The Lady Tigers will host the St. Clair Lady Bulldogs at 4:30 today at the Salem City Park. Salem enters the game with a 7-8 record.

The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers will host Bunker today with the Varsity game first at 5:30 at the SHS Gym. Netcoming festivities will follow the Varsity game.

The Missouri Football Tigers lost to the 14th ranked Tennessee Volunteers Saturday by the score of 35-12. Missouri’s lone touchdown was scored by Larry Roundtree and Harrison Mevis kicked two field goals for the black and gold who fall to 0-2 on the year. In won’t get easier for Missouri who will be at LSU Saturday at 8:00 to face the 17th ranked Tigers.

The San Diego Padres ended the St. Louis Cardinals season Friday night by shutting out the Red Birds using nine relievers in the game, 4-0. Jack Flaherty took the loss giving up two runs in six innings as the Padres took the last two games of the wild card series. The Padres will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers. In the wild card setup, there were seven central division teams from the National and American Leagues that made the playoffs, but every central team was eliminated.

The Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots game scheduled for Sunday was rescheduled for tonight at 6:05 due to COVID-19 outbreaks. The Chiefs enter the game with a 3-0 record while New England is 2-1 on the year.

The Salem Football Tigers will be at Willow Springs tonight to face the Bears in SCA play. Game time will be at 7:00. Salem enters the game with a 2-3 record. KSMO will attempt to offer a courtesy broadcast of the game through another radio station.

The Salem Lady Softball Tigers dropped a 7-6 decision to the Owensville Dutchgirls Thursday at Owensville. Salem will be in the Linn Tournament this weekend and go into the tournament with a 7-8 record.

The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers fall to the Mountain View Liberty Lady Eagles in three straight games Thursday night. The JV Lady Tigers also fell in to two straight games.

Fernando Tatis, Jr. and Wil Meyers hit two homers each driving in a total of nine runs as the San Diego Padres rallied to beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 11-9 to force a Game 3 starting at 8:13 tonight on KSMO. Jack Flaherty will get the start for the Cardinals.

The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers will host the Mountain View Liberty Lady Eagles. The JV will begin at 5:30 with the varsity match to follow at about 6:45.

Paul Goldschmidt drove in two runs in the 1st inning as the Cardinals jumped out to a 4-0 first inning lead and held on to beat the San Diego Padres in Game 1 of their NL wild-card series with a 7-4 win. Dylan Carlson was on base four times from the clean-up spot. He had two hits and two walks, scoring twice and made two outstanding catches. Paul DeJong had two hits for the Red Birds who will send Adam Wainwright to the mound today at either 3:13 or 5:13.

The Salem Lady Softball Tigers won their fifth straight varsity game Tuesday night beating Willow Springs by a score of 16-4. Salem is now 7-7 on the year. The JV also won over Willow by a score of 6-0. The Lady Tigers will be at Owensville Thursday.

The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers went on the road to Thayer and swept by the Lady Bobcats in three straight games. The JV was also victorious in two straight games.

The St. Louis Cardinals will be in San Diego to play the first game in the Wild Card Round today at 4:07 pm on KSMO Radio. The pre-game show will start 3:12.

The St. Louis Cardinals will be in San Diego to play the first game in the Wild Card Round on Wednesday at 4:00 pm on KSMO Radio.

The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Baltimore Ravens 34-20 last night to remain undefeated at 3-0 for the season. The Chiefs will play at home against the New England Patriots this Sunday.

Salem Tigers Volleyball lost at home Monday night to St. Clair. The Lady Tigers will play at Thayer tomorrow with JV starting at 5:30!

On Monday, the Salem Softball Tigers defeated Dixon 11-9.

The Salem Football Tigers fell to the Ava Bears on Friday with a score of 22-14 as Ava scored with 2 seconds to go in the game. The next game will be Friday in Willow Springs.

The Salem Lady Softball Tigers traveled to St. James on Saturday to win the St. James Softball Tournament. They beat St. Clair 5-1, Newburg 23-2 then St. James 5-2. Three Salem players made the tournament all-team, congratulations to Chloe Bonner, Ashton Bowers and Andrea Bray.

On Saturday, the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Brewers 9-1 in the second game to earn a split in their doubleheader against Milwaukee in St. Louis. Tommy Edman hit a two-run homer, while Dylan Carlson and Matt Wieters each drove in a pair. Daniel Ponce de Leon threw six-innings of one-run ball to pick up his first win of the season. In the first game, Christian Yelich homered as the Brewers beat the Cardinals 3-0. Eric Sogard had a run-scoring single and Arcia had an RBI groundout in the second. Devin Williams picked up his fourth win in relief while Josh Hader nailed down his 12th save. Paul Goldschmidt had his 13th double of the season, which was the only extra-base hit for St. Louis in the first game. Jack Flaherty took the loss to fall to 4-and-3.

The Mizzou Football Tigers fell to Alabama Crimson Tide 38-19 in the season opener at Faurot Field. Alabama scored the game’s first 21 points in the opening 15 minutes. It was a tough start for new head coach Eli Drinkwitz who had to face Nick Saban and the second ranked Tide in the revised ten-game schedule.

The Kansas City Royals beat the Detroit Tigers with a score of 3-2 on Saturday.The Royals have won three in a row. The Tigers have lost eight of nine.

With a 5-2 victory of the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday, the Cardinals are headed to post season. Harrison Bader lead the team in scoring with a triple and a towering solo home run that hits Fredbird’s painting in the third deck. Adam Wainwright strikes out three and allows just three runs on eight hits over 6 2/3 strong innings of work.

The Salem Tigers varsity football team will host Ava tonight in SCA Conference play at 7:00. Salem and Ava enter the game with a 2-2 record. The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers match with Willow Springs Thursday night was postponed. The Lady Tigers next game will be Monday when St. Clair comes to town. Game time will be at 5:30.

Dora beat the Salem Softball Tigers Thursday by the score of 11-3. The Salem Lady Softball Tigers will play Saturday in St. James in the St. James Invitational Tournament.

The Missouri Football Tigers will play Alabama Saturday at Missouri. The game will not be heard on KSMO due to Cardinals baseball.

Dylan Carlson homered and drove in three runs and Yadier Molina got his 2,000 career hit as the Cardinals held on to beat Milwaukee, 4-2. These two teams will play two games today, one game before Tiger Football and the other will follow the football game.
