Sports – Thursday, January 14th, 2021

The Salem Lady Basketball Varsity Tigers will be in Thayer tonight at 6:00 to face the Lady Bobcats in an SCA Conference matchup. Salem enters the game with a 9-5 record and they are 1-1 in the SCA Conference.

Oskar Sundvist scored two goals as the St. Louis Blues opened the 2020-2021 regular season with a 4-1 win in Colorado over the Avalanche. Jordan Binnington had 25 saves while Jordan Kyrou and Kyle Clifford also scored for the Blues who will be in Colorado again Friday night on KSMO starting at 9:15 on a delayed basis after Salem Tiger Basketball.

Sports – Wednesday, January 13th, 2021

The St. Louis Blues will kick off their 2020-2021 regular season tonight in Colorado as they face the Avalanche starting at 9:30. The pre-game show can be heard on KSMO Radio starting at 9:00. The Blues will stay in Colorado and play the Avalanche again Friday night in a game that will be delayed until after the Salem Tiger Basketball game is finished starting at about 9:15 on KSMO Radio.

A Youth Athletics Organizational Meeting will be held tonight at 6:00 at the Salem High School Library. This meeting welcomes any individuals who are interested in being involved with constructing a youth sports organization for all sports to better serve young athletes in Salem and Dent County.

Sports – Tuesday, January 12th, 2021

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers traveled to Willow Springs Monday night and lost to the Lady Bears, 69-62. Salem is 9-5 overall and 1-1 in the SCA Conference. The Lady Tigers will face the Lady Bobcats of Thayer Thursday night with the varsity game only starting at 6:00. There will be no JV game.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers will be off until Friday when they host Cabool at the SHS gym. In the seed meeting for the St. James Tournament Saturday, Salem was seeded 8th and will face Blair Oaks Tuesday, January 19th at 5:00. The winner will play Thursday at 5:00 while the loser will play Wednesday at 5:00.

The Missouri Tigers game with Vanderbilt tonight has been postponed due to COVID-19. As of now, the game Saturday morning with Texas A&M is still to be played at 11:30.

A Youth Athletics Organizational Meeting will be held this Wednesday at 6:00 at the Salem High School Library. This meeting will be open for any individuals who are interested in being involved with constructing a youth sports organization to better serve youth athletics in Dent County.

Sports – Monday, January 11th, 2021

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers lost to the Eldon Mustangs in overtime Friday night, 57-54 to fall to 2-8 on the season. Salem led most of the game only to have Eldon tie the game midway through the 4th quarter and win the game on the strength of free throws in overtime. Braiden Carmack led Salem with 21 points in the loss. The Tigers will be off until Friday night when they host Cabool in SCA Conference play.

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers will be on the road for two tough SCA Conference games this week. Tonight, they will travel to Willow Springs to face the Lady Bears starting with the JV game at 6:00 with the varsity game to follow. Salem on Thursday will then travel to Thayer to face the Lady Bobcats. Salem enters the game with a 9-4 record overall and 1-0 in the SCA Conference.

The Missouri Tigers game with LSU was postponed Saturday night due to concerns from an outbreak of COVID-19 on the Missouri squad. They have now been placed on quarantine which means the game Tuesday night against Vanderbilt has also been postponed. As of now, the game Saturday with Texas A&M is still scheduled to be played at 11:30 in the morning.

Sports – Friday, January 8th, 2021

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers will play Eldon tonight. There will be three games played starting with a freshman game at 5:00, the JV game at 6:00 and the varsity game at about 7:20. You can hear the varsity game on KSMO Radio starting with Tiger Talk and Coach Bryan Carty at about 7:10. The varsity game will also be video streamed on ksmoradio.com starting about 7:20. Vouchers for tonight’s game against Eldon are available on a first come, first served basis at the high school office.

The Salem Tigers game back from a 19-point halftime deficit to take a 4th quarter lead, but Newburg rallied to win, 67-65. Lucas Morrison scored 27 points to lead Salem who fell to 2-7 on the year. Salem will play Eldon Friday night. Vouchers for the Friday night game against Eldon will be available this morning starting at 9:00 at the high school office.

The Missouri Tigers blew a 12 point half-time lead and were outscored in the 2nd half, 51-24 en route to a 78-63 loss to Mississippi State. Missouri will play LSU Saturday night at 7:00. Missouri is 7-2 on the season.

Sports – Tuesday, January 5th, 2021

Bella Jadwin scored 23 points while Ashton Bowers netted 13 more and Tatum Hatridge added 11 more as the Salem Lady Tigers beat the Cabool Lady Bulldogs Monday night in SCA Conference play, 60-51. Salem has a 9-4 record for the year and 1-0 in the SCA Conference. The Salem Lady Tigers will be off until next Monday when they travel to Willow Springs to face the Lady Bears in SCA Conference play.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers will host the Newburg Wolves in a makeup game from November tonight starting with the JV game at 6:00 with the varsity game to follow. Vouchers for this game are available on a first come, first serve basis at the high school office.

Vouchers for the Friday night boys game against Eldon will not be available until Wednesday morning starting at 9:00 at the high school office. With the new mask mandate now in effect at the Salem R-80 Schools, all students attending games at the Salem High School and Salem Upper Elementary School will be required to wear a mask! While it is not mandatory for the general public, the school district recommends that masks be worn!

The Missouri Basketball Tigers will play Mississippi State tonight. KSMO will join the game in progress after Salem Basketball. Missouri is 7-1 on the season.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers dropped a 70-60 decision to Vienna Saturday night in Vienna to fall to 2-6 on the year. They will host the Newburg Wolves in a makeup game from November Tuesday night starting with the JV game at 6:00 with the varsity game to follow.

The Salem High School will be passing out vouchers for the girls game tonight against Cabool starting at 9:00 this morning. Vouchers for the boys game on Tuesday against Newburg will be available starting at noon today. With the new mask mandate now in effect at the Salem R-80 Schools, all students attending games at the Salem High School will be required to wear a mask! While it is not mandatory for the general public, the Salem R-80 School District recommends masks be worn!

The St. Louis Blues have announced their 56- game schedule for the 2020-2021 regular season. The Blues will open the season against Colorado on January 13th and 15th. All games will be played in a back to back format, but games may be shuffled around depending on any COVID-19 outbreaks.

Jeremiah Tilmon scored 25 and Xavier Pinson netted 23 more as Missouri knocked off 12th ranked Arkansas Saturday, 81-68. Missouri is 7-1 on the year and the Tigers will play Mississippi State Tuesday night. KSMO will join the game in progress after Salem Basketball.

The Kansas City Chiefs lost 38-21 to the Los Angeles Chargers Sunday to end the regular season with a 14-2. They have a bye in the first round of the playoffs this weekend.

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers took second place Wednesday at the Mountain Grove Holiday Tournament as they fell to Hartville, 62-51. Savannah Manthey led Salem with 18 points followed by Ashton Bowers scoring 16 and Avery Erway adding 10. Salem is 8-4 this year and will host Cabool Monday in the first SCA Conference game this season at the SHS Gym. KSMO Radio will carry the varsity game Monday as well as video livestream the game on ksmoradio.com.

Salem’s Savannah Manthey and Ashton Bowers were named to the All- Tournament Team from the Mountain Grove Holiday Tournament. Congratulations ladies!

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers are 2-5 for the season and will play at Vienna Saturday night in a game added to the schedule. The game will NOT be heard on KSMO. The Newburg game, originally scheduled for November 21st, has been rescheduled for Tuesday, January 5th at the SHS Gym. KSMO will air that game and video livestream that contest as well.

The Tennessee Volunteers beat the Missouri Tigers, 73-53 to drop Missouri to 6-1 overall. Xavier Pinson scored 11 to lead the Tigers. The Missouri Tigers will play Arkansas this Saturday morning at 10:30 on KSMO.
