The Salem Baseball Tigers will travel to Potosi this afternoon at 3:00. The time of the game was changed due to the colder temperatures expected tonight. You can hear the game live on ksmoradio.com ONLY and the game will be rebroadcast after the St. Louis Cardinals’ game around 7:00 on KSMO Radio.
Salem Tiger Tennis team defeated Houston Tuesday, 9-0, then beat Potosi Wednesday afternoon in a contest added after the Richland match was cancelled, 7 matches to 2. The Salem Tigers Tennis team will have their first home match at the Salem City Park today as they host the Willow Springs Bears starting at 4:00.
The Salem Golf Team will be at the Mountain Grove Open this afternoon at 4:00 while the Salem Varsity track team will be at Ava for the Ava Open that begins at 4:00.
The St. Louis Cardinals will open the season this afternoon at Cincinnati against the Reds. The pre-game show will begin at 2:15 on KSMO Radio with the first pitch at 3:10.
The Kansas City Royals will open their season against the Texas Rangers on Thursday at 3:10 to begin the 2021 season.
It’s back! The Healthy Dent County Fitness Center will again offer Line Dancing Classes beginning TONIGHT at 6:00 at the Salem Community Center @ The Armory. The class will be held every Thursday night in April with Rosalie Wright as your instructor. The cost is $5.00 per person each night of the class and you can pay at the door. The Licking Wildcats edged the Salem Baseball Tigers in eight innings Tuesday, 2-1 on bases loaded walks to Rusty Buckner and Keyton Rinne. Garrett Connell went seven innings and gave up just two hits and four walks while striking out seven in getting no decision. Eli Wethy had two of the five Salem hits. The Tigers drop to 1-5 on the year and they will travel to Potosi Thursday afternoon at 3:00. The time of the game was changed due to the colder temperatures expected in the evening. The Salem Tiger Tennis Team shutout Houston Tuesday, 9 matches to none. Salem is 1-0 on the year and they will play at Potosi this afternoon at 4:00 in a match scheduled at the last minute with the cancellation of the Richland match on Monday.
Major League Baseball’s Opening Day will be Thursday and every major league club is scheduled to play. The St. Louis Cardinals will be at Cincinnati to face the Reds. The pre-game show will begin at 2:10 on KSMO Radio with the first pitch at 3:05. The Kansas City Royals will host the Texas Rangers on Thursday at 3:10 to begin the 2021 season.
Registration for the City of Salem Baseball, Softball and T-ball leagues is now underway for $25.00 per child through April the 9th. Games will be played at the Salem City Park and Al Brown Fields. Dominic Grigaitis (grig EYE tis) singled in the only run with two outs in the 5th inning as Owensville beat the Salem Tigers Monday, 1-0. Kody Crocker went six hits and gave up just four hits and struck out seven in taking the loss. Salem is 1-4 on the year and they will host Licking today at the SHS Baseball Field Complex at 4:30. The SHS Golf Team will begin the season today at the Salem Open which will begin at 4:00, the Salem Tennis team will be held at Houston today starting at 4:00, and the Salem Varsity track team will be at the Cuba Open today at 3:30.
Nolan Arenado hit a homer as the St. Louis Cardinals and New York Mets played to a 3-3 tie. St. louis went 8-10 with 6 ties during the spring.
The next Cardinal game will be Opening Day from Cincinnati on Thursday at 2:10 on KSMO.
Kansas City beat Cleveland, 5-4 Monday in their final pre-season game and finished the spring with a 16-8 record with four ties.

The Salem Tigers pushed across a run in the bottom of the 7th inning Saturday afternoon to beat the St. James Tigers, 4-3 for their first win of the year. Garrett Connell got the win in relief. Earlier in the day, Salem dropped a 5-0 decision to Hermann. Salem is 1-3 on the year and they will be at Owensville at their new field at the Owensville High School complex today starting at 4:30. The SHS Golf Team match scheduled for today at Mountain View has been cancelled due to some work being done on their golf course. They Salem Tigers will begin the season Tuesday at the Salem Open which will begin at 4:00.
The Salem Tennis team match with Richland today has also been cancelled. The first tennis match will be held tomorrow at Houston starting at 4:00.
On Sunday, Cardinal pitching coughed up eight runs in the bottom of the 8th as the Washington National beat St. Louis, 11-3. St. Louis will play the New York Mets in their final pre-season game. The next Cardinal game on KSMO Radio will be Opening Day from Cincinnati on Thursday.
The Kansas City Royals beat the Rockies Sunday 6-3 after tying Milwaukee Saturday, 6-6. Kansas City will play Cleveland today in their final pre-season game.
Josh Manson scored in overtime as the Anaheim Ducks beat St. Louis Sunday, 3-2 in overtime. They swept the weekend series as the beat the Blues Friday, 4-1. The Blues have lost four straight games and will be off until Friday night.

The Salem Baseball Tigers will play at Hermann Saturday at noon. If they win, they will play again at 4:30. If they should lose, they will play again at 2:30. Salem is 0-2 on the year.
The SHS Golf Team will be at Mountain View on Monday starting at 4:00. (We have been notified that this match has been cancelled due to work on the golf course)
The Salem Tennis team will be at Richland Monday at 4:00. (We were later notified this match has been cancelled. Salem will play at Houston on Tuesday at 4:00)
St. Louis could only manage two hits against Houston pitching as the Astros shutout the Cards, 3-0. The Cards will be off today before playing Miami Saturday afternoon at 4:55 and Sunday at 11:55 on KSMO. St. Louis is 8-8-5 on the spring.
Adalberto Mondesi, Jorge Soler, Carlos Santana and Ryan McBroom all homered in the Kansas City 10-1 romp over Arizona as the Royals jumped out to a 6-1 lead after two innings. Kansas City will play the Texas Rangers today followed by Milwaukee Saturday and Colorado on Sunday.
Cam Talbot stopped all 32 shots he faced as the Minnesota Wild shutout the St. Louis Blues Thursday night, 2-0. The St. Louis Blues will play Anaheim tonight at 6:30 and again Sunday afternoon at 3:30. Both games can be heard on KSMO Radio.

The Salem Baseball Tigers drop their first two games of the year as they fall to Sikeston in the first game of the day, 8-0. In the second game, the Tigers lost to Desoto by the score of 15-2. Salem is to play another game on Saturday against an opponent and location to be named.
John Nogowski had two hits including a home run, and Justin Williams drove in two runs in the 8th inning as the St. Louis Cardinals shutout the New York Mets, 3-0, Carlos Martinez started and pitched six scoreless innings giving up just four hits. The Cards are 8-7-5 this spring and they will play the Houston Astros this afternoon at 4:55 on KSMO Radio.
Justin Upton’s three run home run in the 6th inning propelled the LA Angels of Anaheim past the Kansas City Royals Wednesday, 4-2. Hunter Dozier homered and Jorge Soler doubled in the other Royals’ run as they fall for the 4th time in the last eight games with three other games ending in ties. Kansas City will play the Arizona Diamondbacks today.
The St. Louis Blues will be back in action tonight when they play Minnesota at 7:00. The game will be delayed an hour due to the Cardinals baseball game. You can hear the game on KSMO Radio immediately after the Cards game is completed.
Bob Plager, former NHL defensemen and enforcer for the St. Louis Blues in his ten-year playing career, died in a two-vehicle car crash Wednesday in St. Louis on Highway 40 at the age of 78. Plager had been with the Blues organization for 50 years when the team retired his #5 in 2017. He served as a player, coach, minor league coach, color man on Blues broadcasts, a scout as well as in the front office.

According to athletic director Phillip Karr, the Four Rivers Baseball Tournament has made some changes. The Salem Tiger Baseball team will now play both Sikeston and Desoto today in Sikeston because of the impending weather on Thursday. The Salem Tigers will play back-to-back games with the first game starting at 1:00 pm. There will no longer be a home game against Desoto in Salem Thursday.
Pinch hitter Austin Dean’s two-run homer and Jose Rondon’s two-out RBI single in the 9th inning helped the Cardinals score three times as they come back to tie the Washington Nationals Tuesday, 5-5. Adam Wainwright went six innings and gave up just one run for the Cardinals. The Cards are 7-7-5 this spring and they will play the New York Mets this afternoon.
The Kansas City Royals were off Tuesday and they will play the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim today.

The Salem High School spring sports starts today as the Salem Varsity Track Tigers will be at St. James starting at 3:00, weather permitting.
The Salem Baseball Tigers will play in the Four Rivers Classic with their first game at Sikeston this Wednesday at 4:30. The game will NOT be on KSMO Radio.
The Miami Marlins scored four runs in the 5th inning and three more in the 8th inn9ing to beat the St. Louis Cardinals Monday, 7-2. Jack Flaherty went five innings and gave up four runs. Dylan Carlson had two hits including a homer and drove in both St. Louis runs. The Card s play Washington this afternoon. The Cards are 7-7-4 this spring.
Hunter Dozier hit a three-run homer and Nick Pratto hit a solo blast, his fourth of the exhibition season as the Kansas City Royals and the San Diego Padres played to a 9-9 tie, their third tie in the last five games. The Royals will have the day off today and play the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Wednesday.
The Vegas Golden Knights scored four times in the 3rd period en route to a 5-1 win over the St. Louis Blues. Vince Dunn scored the lone goal for St. Louis who will be back in action Thursday night when they play Minnesota at 7:00. You can hear the game on KSMO Radio.

John Nogowski’s two-out two run single broke a 2-2 tie and led the St. Louis Cardinals to a 5-2 win over Houston on Saturday. In the second inning, the Cardinals got a two-run two out homer from Dylan Carlson, his first home run of the spring. St. Louis did not play Sunday and they will play Miami today. The Cards are 7-6-4 during spring training.
The Kansas City Royals banged out 13 hits and beat the Colorado Rockies Sunday, 6-1 to end a five-game winless streak. The Royals on Saturday tied Arizona Diamondbacks, 6-6 and on Friday, tied the LA Angels of Anaheim, 4-4. The Royals will play the San Diego Padres this afternoon in Arizona. Kansas City is 13-6-2 this spring.
The Royals signed catcher Salvador Perez to a 4-year extension Sunday worth 82 million dollars.
The St. Louis Blues beat the San Jose Sharks in a shootout Friday night, 2-1 on Vladimir Tarasenko’s shoot out tally. Tyler Bozek scored in regulation for the Blues in the 3rd period to tie the game. On Saturday night, St. Louis beat the Sharks by the score of 5-2. Jordan Kyrou scored twice for the Blues while David Perron, Ryan O’Reilly and Vince Dunn also scored in the game. The Blues have won two straight after losing five straight games. They will be in Las Vegas tonight to face the Golden Knights starting at 8:30 on KSMO.
The Missouri Basketball Tigers lost to Oklahoma Saturday in a see-saw battle from start to finish, 72-68. Dru Smith scored 20 points for the Tigers followed by Jeremiah Tilmon with 16 and Mark Smith with 11 more. Tilmon led Missouri with 12 rebounds in the game as the Tigers were eliminated from the NCAA Tournament and finish the year with a 16-10 record.

Nolan Gorman’s three-run double with two outs in the bottom of the 8th inning topped off a four-run 8th inning as the Cardinals beat Miami, 7-5. Paul DeJong hit his first homer of the spring in the 2nd inning, a two-run shot. The Cards will play the New York Mets this afternoon and Houston again on Saturday. You can hear the Cardinal game Saturday on KSMO Radio beginning at 11:55. The cardinals will have Sunday off.
Kansas City got off to a 4-0 lead in the 1st inning only to have the Chicago White Sox come back to win the game, 9-7 to hand the Royals their 3rd straight loss. The Royals will play the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim this afternoon in Arizona. This weekend, the Royals will play Arizona and Colorado. They have a 12-6 record this spring.
The St. Louis Blues lost to the LA Kings Wednesday night, 4-1. Mike Hoffman had the only Blues’ goal. The Blues, who have now lost five straight games, will be in San Jose tonight and Saturday night on KSMO starting at 7:30 each evening. The Blues are in the 4th and final playoff position with half of the regular season still remaining.
