The Salem Baseball Tigers drop their first two games of the year as they fall to Sikeston in the first game of the day, 8-0. In the second game, the Tigers lost to Desoto by the score of 15-2. Salem is to play another game on Saturday against an opponent and location to be named.

John Nogowski had two hits including a home run, and Justin Williams drove in two runs in the 8th inning as the St. Louis Cardinals shutout the New York Mets, 3-0, Carlos Martinez started and pitched six scoreless innings giving up just four hits. The Cards are 8-7-5 this spring and they will play the Houston Astros this afternoon at 4:55 on KSMO Radio.

Justin Upton’s three run home run in the 6th inning propelled the LA Angels of Anaheim past the Kansas City Royals Wednesday, 4-2. Hunter Dozier homered and Jorge Soler doubled in the other Royals’ run as they fall for the 4th time in the last eight games with three other games ending in ties. Kansas City will play the Arizona Diamondbacks today.

The St. Louis Blues will be back in action tonight when they play Minnesota at 7:00. The game will be delayed an hour due to the Cardinals baseball game. You can hear the game on KSMO Radio immediately after the Cards game is completed.

Bob Plager, former NHL defensemen and enforcer for the St. Louis Blues in his ten-year playing career, died in a two-vehicle car crash Wednesday in St. Louis on Highway 40 at the age of 78. Plager had been with the Blues organization for 50 years when the team retired his #5 in 2017. He served as a player, coach, minor league coach, color man on Blues broadcasts, a scout as well as in the front office.
