Salem High School Head Football Coach Neal Myers will be holding a Salem High School Summer Football Camp beginning Monday, July 17th and will continue weekdays through Friday, July 28th for $50 which includes a camp T-shirt. The camp is open to interested players in grades 9 through 12 and will be held from 7:00 until 10:00 in the morning. The camp will teach position drills as well as work on offense and defensive skills. A team camp will be held at Farmington on July 28th. Coach Myers asks that participants get their physicals completed by the start of camp. Registration forms for the camp are available by e-mailing Coach Myers at neal.myers@salemr80.org. All registration forms and payment will be due by July 18th.

The St. Louis Cardinals will start the second half of the season with a three-game series against Washington. The pre-game show tonight will begin at 6:20 with Saturday’s game at 5:20 and Sundays game at 12:20. The Cardinals are in last place in the Central Division with a 38-52 record and they are 11 ½ games behind Cincinnati. All three games can be heard on KSMO Radio, AM 1340 and 95.7 FM.

The Kansas City Royals will open the second half of the season against the Tamps Bay Rays in Kansas City. The Royals have the second worst record in the American League with a 26-65 record and are in last place in Central Division. They are 19 ½ games behind Cleveland.

SMH Family Medicine is offering Comprehensive Sports Physicals at $10 per student. Physicals are required by MSHSSA every two years for all high school sports including cheerleading, flag corp and marching band. If your child is participating in any of these activities, call 729-8000 to make an appointment at the clinic although walk-in physicals are also available. Remember if the child is 17 years of age or younger, a parent or guardian must be present at the time of the physical.

St. Louis Blues have signed forward Oskar Sundqvist to a one-year contract for the 2023-2024 year. Sundqvist was a key part of the Blues’ 2019 Stanley Cup run and last year played with Detroit & Minnesota. Sundqvist played with the Blues from 2017-2022 after being acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Blues also announced goaltender Thomas Greiss retired Wednesday after playing one season with the Blues. Greiss went 7-10 in his only season with St. Louis. His career mark was 162-130-37 with six NHL teams.

Colorado Rockies catcher Elias Diaz two-run homer in the top of the 8th inning proved to be the difference as the National league snapped a nine-game losing streak with a 3-2 win over the American League. Diaz was named to the MVP of the game.

The Major League baseball All-Star Game will be tonight on FOX-TV. Nolan Arenado is the starting 3rd baseman for the National League and is the only St. Louis Cardinals representative. Salvador Perez will be the lone representative for the Kansas City Royals.

Paul DeJong’s double drove in the winning run as St. Louis defeated the Chicago White Sox Sunday, 4-3 in ten innings. Willson Contreras hit a two-run homer for the Cardinals who took the series, two games to one. They will be off until Friday night due to the All-Star Break.

Kansas City salvaged the final game of the four- game series beating the Cleveland Guardians Sunday, 4-1. The Royals will also be off until Friday when they host the Tampa Bay Rays.

Nolan Arenado homered and Nolan Gorman had two doubles and an RBI as St. Louis beat Miami Thursday, 3-0. The Cardinals will face the Chicago White Sox this weekend starting tonight at 6:15 on KSMO.

The Cleveland Guardians slugged three homers and had a four-run 6th inning as they beat the Kansas City Royals Thursday, 6-1. The Royals and Cleveland play again tonight.

St. Louis Cardinal Nolan Arenado was named the National League starting 3rd Baseman beating out Atlanta’s Austin Riley in the fan voting. He was named the starter for the fifth time in the past six All-Star Games.

Jordan Hicks throwing error in the bottom of the 9th inning allowed two runs to score and give the Florida Marlins a 10-9 win over the St. Louis Cardinals Wednesday night. Jordan Walker’s two-out two-run homer in the 9th inning had just given the Cardinals a 9-8 lead. Nolan Gorman also hit a two-run homer for St. Louis who have lost the first three games of the series. The Red Birds and Marlins wrap up their series today at 4:45 on KSMO Radio.

Edouard Julien’s one out home run in the 1st inning was all Minnesota would need as they shutout the Kansas City Royals, 5-0 Wednesday. The Royals will be at Cleveland tonight to face the Guardians to begin a four-game series.

Adam Wainwright struggled for the third start in a row as he gave up seven runs in 3 1/3 innings before the leaving the game with a shoulder issue as the St. Louis Cardinals were bombed by Miami, 15-2. Jesus Sanchez hit a three-run 1st inning homer and Garrett Cooper added a solo shot an inning later for Miami who banged out 19 hits and were given six walks in the game. The Red Birds and Marlins will play today starting at 4:45 on KSMO Radio.

Max Kepler’s threer-run homer in the bottom of 4rd inning the gave Minnesota the lead and they increased that lead on solo homers by Donovan Solano and Bryon Buxton as they went on to beat the Kansas City Royals Tuesday, 9-3. Bobby Witt, Jr. hit a two-run homer for the Kansas City who has lost their last two games after winning two-in-a row. The Royals and Twins play again tonight in Minnesota.

The St. Louis Cardinals game Friday evening was postponed till Saturday due to inclement weather. The Cards beat the NY Yankees 11-4 in Game 1 on Saturday and lost 6-2 in Game 2. The Cards won Sunday afternoon 5-1. The Cards will be at Miami to start a four-game series with the Marlins at 4:45 on KSMO Radio.

The Kansas City Royals lost Friday night to the Los Angeles Dodgers 9-3. The Royals won Saturday 6-4 and on Sunday 9-1. Kansas City will be at Minnesota tonight to start a three-game series.

The St. Louis Cardinals had a tough night with a 14-0 loss. Adam Wainwright had his worst career start, allowing six runs in the second inning against the Houston Astros. Alex Bregman hit his third grand slam of the year.
