Matthew Liberatore struck out seven across eight innings in his start against the Rays. Andrew Knizner slugged a two-run homer to left-center field to help the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Tampa Bay Rays 5-2 yesterday.
The Boston Red Sox beat the Kansas City Royals 2-0. The Cardinals face Kansas City tonight at 6:15 and Saturday at 5:15 on KSMO. There is no game scheduled for Sunday.

The Salem Park and Recreation Department is holding registration for flag football and cheerleading now through August 31st. The cost is $35 for flag football which includes a shirt while the cost for cheerleading is $45 which includes a shirt and pom poms. This Saturday at Montauk State Park, there will be a “Summer’s End” FREE fishing day for children 15 years of age and under. Tags are required and can be picked up at the lodge. For more information, contact Montauk State Park at 548-2201.
Lars Nootbaar homered and Paul Goldschmidt singled in two runs as St. Louis beat Tampa Bay Wednesday, 6-4. The Cards wrap up their series with the Rays today at 4:45 on KSMO.
MJ Melendez hit two home runs and Freddie Fermin also homered, but Kansas City fell to Boston Wednesday, 4-3. The Royals and Red Sox finish up their four-game series tonight in Boston.

Yandy Diaz celebrated his 32nd birthday by going 4-4 and driving in the game winning run with a single in the 8th inning as the Tampa Bay Rays beat the St. Louis Cardinals Tuesday, 4-2. Nolan Arenado and Willson Contreras homered for St. Louis who will face the Rays again tonight at 4:45 on KSMO.
Kansas City hit three two-run homers and Brady Singer pitched 6 2/3rds innings of five-hit ball as the Royals beat the Boston Red Sox Tuesday, 9-3. The Royals and Red Sox play again tonight at Fenway Park.

Pablo Reyes bottom of the 9th inning walk-off grand slam lifted the Boston Red Sox past the Kansas City Royals Monday, 6-2. The Royals and Red Sox tangle again tonight at Fenway Park.

Former Cardinal Austin Gomber pitched six shutout innings and St. Louis stranded 15 men in the game falling to Colorado Sunday, 1-0. Zach Thompson started for Red Birds and pitched four solid innings striking out eight and giving up the one run. St. Louis will have the day off before traveling to Tampa Bay to face the Rays Tuesday night on KSMO.
The Philadelphia Phillies hit three homers and beat the Kansas City Royals Sunday, 8-4. After winning seven straight games, the Royals have lost two in a row. MJ Melendez homered for the Royals on Sunday as they will be in Boston to face the Red Sox tonight at Fenway Park.

Two-run homers by Michael A. Taylor and Ryan Jeffers led the Minnesota Twins to a 5-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals Thursday. Alec Burleson hit a solo homer for the Cardinals who have lost of five of their last eight games. The Cards and Colorado Rockies will play a three-game series starting tonight at 6:20, Saturday at 5:20 and Sunday at 12:20, all on KSMO.
The Kansas City Royals finished 6-0 this past homestand as they beat the New York Mets Thursday, 9-2. Brady Singer threw eight scoreless innings and Bobby Witt, Jr and Drew Waters homers for the Royals who begin a three game series at Philadelphia tonight.

Alec Burleson hit a three-run homer, Lars Nootbaar added a two-run shot and Tyler O’Neill and Jordan Walker added solo shots as the St. Louis Cardinals powered their way to a 7-3 over Minnesota. Dakota Hudson went seven innings giving up two hits and three runs to get the win. The Cards and Twins play tonight at 5:50 on KSMO Radio.
Michael Massey drove in two runs with a double and Drew waters hit a solo homer as the Kansas City Royals shut out the New York Mets, 4-0. Four Royals pitchers combined on the nine hit shutout. The Royals and Mets play today.

Donovan Salono’s two-run pinch hit single proved to be the difference as the Minnesota Twins beat the St. Louis Cardinals Tuesday at Busch Stadium, 3-2. Tyler O’Neill homered and Nolan Arenado had an RBI single for the Cards who will play the Twins tonight at 5:50 on KSMO Radio.
The St. Louis Cardinals announced they have acquired minor league right-handed pitcher Matt Svanson from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for shortstop Paul DeJong and cash considerations. DeJong was drafted by St. Louis in 2015 and made it to the major leagues in 2017. The Cardinals also acquired minor league pitchers Drew Rom and Zack Showalter and minor league infielder César Prieto from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for pitcher Jack Flaherty who was a 1st round draft selection by the Cardinals in 2014. Flaherty also made it to the major leagues in 2017, but has been plagued with injuries in the last three years.
MJ Melendez scored the winning run on a pitchers disengagement violation as Kansas City beat the Mets, 7-6 in ten innings. The Royals and New York Mets will tangle again tonight.
The Kansas City Royals dealt left-handed pitcher Ryan Yarbrough to the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for minor league first baseman Devin Mann and 19-year-old shortstop Derlin Figueroa; then sent closer Scott Barlow to the Padres as the Royals will get right-handers Henry Williams and Jesus Rios. The Royals also acquired left-handed pitcher Tucker Davidson from Angels for cash considerations.

Steven Matz pitched six shutout innings while Tyler O’Neill, Paul Goldschmidt and Andrew Knizner had RBI singles as the St. Louis Cardinals snapped a three-game losing streak as they beat the Chicago Cubs Sunday, 3-0. St. Louis will have the day off today before starting a three-game set with Minnesota Tuesday.
The St. Louis Cardinals announced they have acquired minor league right-handed pitchers Sem Robberse and Adam Kloffenstein from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for right-handed reliever Jordan Hicks. The Cardinals have assigned the pitchers to Triple-A Memphis. The Cardinals also acquired minor league right-handed pitcher Tekoah Roby, left-handed pitcher John King and infielder Thomas Saggese from the Texas Rangers in exchange for pitchers Jordan Montgomery and Chris Stratton and International Signing Bonus Pool space. Roby and Saggese will be sent to the Springfield AA Cardinals while King will report to the Cardinals.
Freddie Fermin’s homer helped lift the Kansas City Royals to a 2-1 win over Minnesota Sunday and a sweep of the three-game series over the Twins. The Royals have today off and will host the New York Mets Tuesday night.
