Donovan Salono’s two-run pinch hit single proved to be the difference as the Minnesota Twins beat the St. Louis Cardinals Tuesday at Busch Stadium, 3-2. Tyler O’Neill homered and Nolan Arenado had an RBI single for the Cards who will play the Twins tonight at 5:50 on KSMO Radio.

The St. Louis Cardinals announced they have acquired minor league right-handed pitcher Matt Svanson from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for shortstop Paul DeJong and cash considerations. DeJong was drafted by St. Louis in 2015 and made it to the major leagues in 2017. The Cardinals also acquired minor league pitchers Drew Rom and Zack Showalter and minor league infielder César Prieto from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for pitcher Jack Flaherty who was a 1st round draft selection by the Cardinals in 2014. Flaherty also made it to the major leagues in 2017, but has been plagued with injuries in the last three years.

MJ Melendez scored the winning run on a pitchers disengagement violation as Kansas City beat the Mets, 7-6 in ten innings. The Royals and New York Mets will tangle again tonight.

The Kansas City Royals dealt left-handed pitcher Ryan Yarbrough to the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for minor league first baseman Devin Mann and 19-year-old shortstop Derlin Figueroa; then sent closer Scott Barlow to the Padres as the Royals will get right-handers Henry Williams and Jesus Rios. The Royals also acquired left-handed pitcher Tucker Davidson from Angels for cash considerations.
