The St. Louis Cardinals had Thursday off and will begin a three-game series in Chicago this afternoon against the Cubs at Wrigley Field starting at 12:25 on KSMO Radio. The game on Saturday will begin at 5:20 and 5:10 on Sunday. Those games can also be heard on KSMO Radio.
Jorge Soler hit the 100th homer of his career and the Kansas City Royals snapped their five-game losing streak with a 6-1 win over Oakland last night. The Oakland A’s and Royals play tonight.

After earning Sooner Athletic Conference All-Conference Second Team honors, Camryn Pryor of Oklahoma Panhandle State University added regional honors by being named to the NFCA NAIA Second Team ALL-Region team as a 1st Baseman. The Salem native finished the season ranked fourteenth in the Sooner Athletic Conference in batting average as she hit .365, came in seventh in hits with 38, ninth in doubles with 11, and nineteenth in RBI’s with 23. Congratulations Camryn!
Tyler O’Neill’s two homers and Adam Wainwright’s three-hitter over seven innings helped St. Louis break their six-game losing streak beating Cleveland Wednesday, 8-2. The Cardinals will have today off.
The LA Angels of Anaheim swept the series from Kansas City Wednesday night with a 6-1 win over the Royals, limiting Kansas City to only five hits in the game. It was the Royal’s 5th straight loss. The Oakland A’s and Royals play tonight.

The St. Louis Cardinals lost their 6th straight game as the Cleveland Indians banged out 15 hits and beat the Red Birds, 10-1. The Cards are 0-5 on the current homestand and will wrap it up when they face Cleveland again starting with the pre-game show at 6:20 tonight on KSMO.
The LA Angels of Anaheim held Kansas City to six hits en route to an 8-1 win over the Royals. Kansas City has now lost four straight games. The Angels and Royals play tonight.
Sports – Tuesday, June 8th, 2021
The St. Louis Cardinals had Monday off and will host the Cleveland Indians in a short two-game series at Busch Stadium starting tonight with the pre-game show at 6:20 on KSMO Radio. The Red Birds have five straight games and six of their last seven games.
Max Stassi had three hits, including a home run and double, and three RBI. Anthony Rendon, José Iglesias, Juan Lagares and David Fletcher all drove in runs, as well as the LA Angels of Anaheim beat Kansas City Monday night, 8-3 in Anaheim. The Angels scored four 1st inning runs in the win which sent the Royals to the .500 mark 29-29 on the year. The two teams will square off again tonight in Anaheim.

Jesse Winker’s third homer of the day in the 9th inning proved to be the difference and spoiled a seven-run Cardinal comeback in the 6th inning as the Red birds lost to Cincinnati Sunday, 8-7 as the Reds swept the series from the Cardinals. It is the first time in 31 years the Reds have taken a four-game series from the Cardinals in St. Louis. Nolan Arenado went 4-4 for St. Louis and drove in two runs for the second straight day. The Cards who have lost five straight games and will have the day off today.
The Minnesota Twins edged the Kansas City Royals Sunday, 2-1 and earned a split in their four-game series. The Royals will head to the West Coast and take on the LA Angels of Anaheim starting tonight.

St. Louis starter Carlos Martinez, who is 3 and 5 on the year, only went two-thirds of an inning Wednesday night. He faced 12 batters and was lifted when a walk to Turner loaded the bases. The right-hander allowed 10 runs on six hits with four walks and a strikeout in the second-shortest start of his career. The Cards began a four-game home series with the Cincinnati Reds. Adam Wainright took to the mound last night. Coverage of the game tonight begins at 6:20 on KSMO. The games Saturday and Sunday coverage will begin 12:20.
The Kansas City Royals faced the Minnesota Twins Thursday night. The Twins, who are 22 and 33 on the year, made their first trip to Kauffman Stadium this season for the series.

Edmundo Sosa hit a tiebreaking single in the ninth inning, Tyler O’Neill made a running catch for the final out and the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-2 Tuesday night. The Cards travel back to St. Louis to begin a four-game series with the Cincinnati Reds. Coverage of the game tonight begins at 6:20 on KSMO. Friday at 6:30 and at 12:20 both Saturday and Sunday.
The Kansas City Royals won 10-5 over the Pittsburg Pirates with the help of a grand slam Tuesday night. The Royals and Minnesota Twins begin a four-game series tonight in Kansas City.

The St. Louis Cardinals started their series in Los Angeles against the Dodgers Monday evening. The Redbirds fell to the Dodgers 9-4. Cardinals starter Jack Flaherty exited with left side tightness after five innings. He equaled his season high with nine strikeouts and walked one. The right-hander gave up two runs and two hits. The Cardinals play the Dodgers again tonight with pre-game starting at 7:15 KSMO. The Cardinals are off tomorrow before returning to St. Louis Friday for a weekend series against the Cincinnati Reds.
The Kansas City Royals played host to the Pittsburg Pirates Monday and Tuesday. Monday evening the Royals topped the Pirates 7-3. The Royals will have today off as they get ready to host the Minnesota Twins in a four-game series.

In the Class 4 State Track meet Saturday, sophomore Savannah Manthey finished 7th in Javelin, senior Ashton Mink finished 8th in Shot Put, junior Nathan Pyle finished 6th in Discus, senior John Myslinski finished 8th in the 800 Meter Run, and senior Caden Camden finished 5th in Pole Vault! These five Salem athletes were each named All-State for their particular event. Congratulations Tigers!!!!
The Arizona Diamondbacks took advantage of three St. Louis Cardinals errors and scored five 6th inning runs en route to a 9-2 win over the Red Birds on Sunday. The loss stopped a Cardinals four-game winning streak and salvaged the last game of the series for Arizona who had lost 13 straight going into the game. The Cards continue their long road trip as they will be on the West Coast and face the LA Dodgers through Wednesday night. You can hear the game tonight on KSMO at 8:15.
The Kansas City Royals rode a four-run 5th inning to a 6-3 win over Minnesota Sunday to take two of the three games in the series and climb to within one game of .500. Hunter Dozier and Andrew Benintendi each drove in two runs for Kansas City who are facing the Pittsburgh Pirates in a two-game series.

The SCA Conference 1st, 2nd and Honorable Mention teams have been released. Named to the SCA All Conference 1st team were pitcher Baylor Petty and Kody Crocker as an outfielder. Garrett Connell and Eli Wethy were named to the SCA All-Conference 2nd team. Connell was honored as a pitcher and Wethy as an infielder. Outfielder Korben Barred was named to the SCA All-Conference Honorable mention team. Congratulations Tigers!

Yadier Molina’s 10th inning double drove in the game winning run as the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Arizona Diamondbacks Thursday, 5-4. The Cards continue their four-game series in Arizona at 7:45 tonight on KSMO.
Austin Meadows homered and tripled, driving in four runs as Tampa Bay beat Kansas City, 7-2. The Royals start a three-game series in Minnesota tonight.
