Anti Raanta made 38 saves out of 29 shots and the Arizona Coyotes worked their way past the St. Louis Blues Tuesday night, 3-1 in Arizona. Tyler Bozak had the only Blues goal as they saw their eight game winning streak come to an end. The Blues will be at Colorado tonight to face the Avalanche starting at 8:00 on KSMO.

Alex Pietrangelo, Ryan O’Reilly and Jordan Binnington have been selected to represent the Central Division are headed to the 2020 NHL All-Star Game in St. Louis! David Perron is the Blues’ representative on the NHL’s Last Men In ballot, which gives fans the opportunity to send one additional player from each division to the All-Star Game. The Dent County Commissioners met for their last meeting of 2019 year Monday morning at the Dent County Courthouse. In the road report, District 1 Commissioner Dennis Purcell said materials would be added and patch grading done on Dent County Roads 4080, 5015, 5020, 5440 and 6540 plus various other roads that need attention. He went on to say brush would be cut on county roads 6070 and 6470. Purcell also reported two men would be doing the 2,000 hour full service on grader #24 which includes changing out all the fluids, filters and more. District 2 Commissioner Gary Larson stated materials would be added and patch grading would be done on Dent County Road 2030 while materials only were going to be added to county road 3330. He went on to say brush would be cut on county roads 2150, 2155 and 5340. Larson said a 1,000 hour service would be done on grader #37 by workers. Larson went on to report that early Monday morning, work crews had to remove a downed tree across Dent County Road 2340 from the high winds from the weekend. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles is reminding all local vendors that no payments can be made on any invoices until the 2020 budget is approved in late January. He also wanted to remind everyone to drive safe over the New Year’s Holiday. Dent County Clerk Angie Curley said her office continues to work on the 2020 budget. The next meeting of the Dent County Commissioners will be Thursday, January 2nd at 9:00 at the Dent County Courthouse and the meeting will be open to the public.

The Dent County Sheriff’s Department has released some reports that occurred before Christmas. On Sunday, December 22nd, a deputy responded to the 500 block of Dent County Road 5130 for a report of property damage. Upon arrival, the deputy discovered that a 76-year-old man was the reported victim of a mailbox being damaged. This investigation is ongoing. On Christmas Eve day, a deputy responded to a residence on Dent County Road 3140 for the report of a physical domestic incident. Upon arrival, the deputy discovered a 28-year-old man was the reported victim but did not want to pursue charges. Later that same day, a deputy responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Dent County Road 2530 for a report of a burglary. Upon arrival, the deputy discovered a 69-year-old man and a 77-year-old female was the reported victims of the burglary. This investigation is still ongoing. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports two people died in traffic crashes during the 30-hour 2019 Christmas holiday counting period last week from 6:00 Christmas to 11:59 Christmas night . Troopers investigated 91 traffic crashes involving 23 injuries and 2 fatalities. The patrol also made 18 DWI arrests during the counting period. Many Missourians will plan special events to welcome 2020. As you drive to your New Year’s celebration, remember to buckle up and make sure all your passengers do the same. The 2020 New Year’s 30-hour holiday counting period is from 6:00 tonight, December 31st and ends at 11:59 tomorrow night, January 1st, 2020. During last year’s 102-hour New Year’s holiday counting period, 11 people died and 447 people were injured in 1,301 traffic crashes. Thus, a person was killed or injured every 13.4 minutes during that time frame. If your plans include alcohol, remember that nothing ruins a party like a DWI arrest or a drinking-related traffic crash on your way home. If you’re driving, you should be the designated driver. Otherwise, make sure your group has one before you get to the party or utilize a ride share service or taxi. Also, before you travel, check road conditions by calling 1-888-275-6636 or going to modot.org. If you are driving, allow extra time during inclement weather or consider staying home.

The Salem Police Department has released some reports. On Saturday night December 21st, at 10:40, an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 800 block of North Jackson in reference to a leaving the scene of an accident report. The investigation of the report revealed the driver of a white Chevrolet Cobalt struck a black Ford Escape and left the scene. A further investigation led to the arrest of a 29-year-old male of Salem for leaving the scene of an accident, failing to maintain financial responsibility and for the possession of methamphetamine. The suspect was issued summonses to appear in court and released. On Sunday, December 22nd at 12:26 in the morning, an officer was conducting an investigation at a residence in the 800 block of South Jackson. During the investigation it was found that a 28-year-old male of Salem was in possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and pills that are a controlled substance. The suspect was taken into custody and later released pending charges to be filed. On Monday night, December 23rd at about 9:55, an officer located a 55-year-old male of Salem at a residence in the 600 block of South Warfel who had an active arrest warrant from Dent County. The suspect was taken into custody on the warrant and incarcerated pending a court appearance. The Healthy Dent County Fitness Center will begin a Fitness Boot Camp Saturday morning at 10:00 at the Salem Community Center@The Armory that will last through the month of January. The class will include cardio, strength, agility, & flexibility training. Modifications will be demonstrated for all fitness levels. The cost is $25 or $10 for fitness center members. The St. Louis Blues will be in Arizona tonight to face the Coyotes starting at 7:30 on KSMO. The Blues have won eight straight games.

Torrence Watson scored 24 points to lead Missouri to a 91-33 trouncing of Chicago State. The Tigers next game will be Saturday when they begin their SEC Conference schedule at Kentucky at 12:30 on KSMO Radio.

The Dent County Health Center Board of Trustees met December 19th at the Health Center. Administrator Kendra Mobray reported that outpatient lab services were provided for 90 clients in November. She also noted that all documents have been submitted to Maloney, Wright and Robbins for the 2017/2018 audit. Mobray said that the SEMA PREP visit was completed December 13th from 10:00 until 2:00. She also stated that she attended the Region I SEMA meeting in Lebanon December 12th. Mobray said that 463 Flu shots have been administered to date and they continue to be available at the Health Center on a walk-in basis with Flulaval, for ages 6 months and up, Flublock, for those with egg allergies, and High Dose Fluzone for ages 65 and up. The Health Center is able to bill private insurance and child Medicaid. Mobray went on to say that Flu shots are $37.00 for adults who are uninsured, plus if places of business or job sites are interested in Flu shot clinics they should contact the Dent County Health Center at 729-3106. She reported that filings for the two Board seats that will be expiring in April 2020 began December 17th and will continue through January 21st, 2020. Those interested in filing must do so in person at the Dent County Clerk’s office in the Dent County Courthouse during regular business hours. The Health Center reported 8 cases of Influenza with one related death, 1 case of Campylobacteriosis, 1 Meningococcal, plus investigated 2 animal bites. Mobray presented the Administrative Manual and Personnel Manual to the Board for annual approval. Both manuals were approved by unanimous vote. Pursuant to Section 610.021 of the Missouri Statutes, the Board went in to closed session where bids for HVAC, a phone system and flooring were reviewed. Upon returning to open session, bids for HVAC from Victor Heating and Cooling, a phone system from Advanced Telephone, LLC, and Toman’s Flooring were approved. DCHC expenses for November were approved and the next regular board meeting was set for January 16th at 5:00 at the Health Center.

The Dent County Sheriffs Department has released reports for the department’s activities between December 17th and the 20th. On Tuesday the 17th, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on 8th Street. During the course of the traffic stop, a 49-year-old Salem man was arrested for driving while having his license revoked or suspended, a 2nd or 3rd offense. The man was transported to the Dent County Sheriff’s Office where he was fingerprinted, issued summons and later released. Then on Thursday the 19th, a deputy observed a 28-year-old Salem woman the deputy knew to have active warrants through Dent County. The woman was arrested and transported to the Dent County Sheriff’s Office where she later posted bond and was released. The next day on the 20th, a deputy responded to the 2000 block of Highway 68 for a report of a burglary. Upon arrival at the address, the deputy discovered that a 69-year-old man was the reported victim. After further investigation, a 30-year-old Salem man was arrested for trespassing in the 1st degree and property damage in the 2nd degree. The man was arrested, fingerprinted, issued summons and later released. If anyone has information regarding any investigation, contact the Dent County Sheriff’s Office at 729-3241.

The Salem Police Department has released some reports. On Thursday afternoon, December 19th at about 2:23, an officer was dispatched to Wal-Mart in reference to a shoplifter. The investigation of the report led to the arrest of a 60-year-old female of Salem for stealing merchandise valued at $5.88. The suspect was issued a summons to appear in court and released. On Friday evening, December 20th close to 7:00, an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 600 block of South Sligo in reference to someone banging on a door and trying to get in. That investigation revealed a 32-year-old male of Salem had pushed the front door of the residence in and assaulted a 21-year-old female of Salem. A further investigation led to the arrest of the suspect for assault, damage to private property and harassment. The suspect was incarcerated pending the application for warrants. On Saturday, December 21st, near noon, an officer was contacted at the Salem Police Department in reference to a stolen vehicle. The investigation of the report revealed that a person or persons unknown took a red 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt from a residence in the 800 block of East Ellis. A further investigation revealed that a female suspect had used a credit card that was in the vehicle at various locations in Salem. Later that day the Licking Police Department reported seeing the stolen Cobalt and attempted to stop it. A pursuit ensued and ended in an accident. The driver of the Cobalt, a 43-year-old female of Salem was taken into custody for receiving stolen property and possession of methamphetamine. The report is still under investigation. Sports – Monday, December 30th, 2019

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers took 5th place in the Mountain Grove Holiday Tournament Saturday when they beat Koshkonong, 50-43. Savannah Manthey had 17 points followed by Madison Woolf who added 16 more. Salem got to the 5th place game by beating Houston Friday, 52-31. Salem is now 8-4 on the year.

The St. Louis Blues swept the home and home series with Winnipeg winning Friday night in overtime, 5-4 on David Perron’s goal in Winnipeg; then received two goals from Jaden Schwartz Sunday afternoon as the Blues beat the Jets, 4-1 in St. Louis. The Blues will take on Arizona Tuesday night.

The Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Diego Chargers Sunday, 31-21 and with the loss of New England to Miami, 24-21, the Chiefs earned a first round bye in the playoffs. The Chiefs finished the regular season with a 12-4 record.

The Missouri Basketball Tigers play Chicago State tonight at 6:30 on KSMO Radio.
