The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers fell to the Lady Red Wings of Eminence Tuesday night at the high school gym in five games as Eminence won the first game, 19-25, then Salem came back to win the second game 25-17. The third game went the way of Eminence by the score of 25-13, but the Salem Lady Tigers battled back to take Game 4, 28-26. Game five was a see-saw contest but a call at the net that went the way of the Lady Red Wings late in the game after the officials conferred on the floor gave them the advantage. The game winner was a beautiful redirect of a pass by senior Aidden Bashman as the Lady Red Wings beat Salem, 14-16. Salem is 0-3 on the year and the Lady Volleyball Tigers will be at West Plains Monday.

A five-run third inning propelled the St. Louis Cardinals to as 6-4 win over the Minnesota Twins in the second game of the double-header Tuesday in St. Louis. Earlier in the day in the first game, Minnesota smacked three home runs in a 7-3 win over the Red Birds. Tommy Edmon homered in the first game for St. Louis who will have the day off today. The Cards will have another double-header Thursday when they host the Detroit Tigers starting at 12:20.

Maikel Franco drove in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning and had an RBI single in the ninth as Kansas City beat the Cleveland Indians. 8-6 Tuesday night to snap a seven-game losing streak. Whit Merrifield hit a three-run homer and Cam Gallagher had an RBI double for Kansas City in the win. Greg Holland got the win as he worked two perfect innings. The Royals and Indians will play again this evening in Cleveland in the third game iof the four game series.
