At the St. James Cross Country Meet and Invitational, Salem’s Zoey Elliott took first overall in the girls’ division with a time of 20:57. That time broke a Salem High School record that was set in 1984 by Lisa Piatt of 20:58. Congratulations, Zoey!

At the Cross Country meet in St. James, the Salem Lady Tigers team took 8th place while the boys finished in 11th place. The top finisher for the boys was Quin Cooper who came in 58th place with a run of 21:32. Salem will be off until Thursday, October 8th when both the boys and girls will participate in the Licking Wildcat Invitational.

The Salem Lady Varsity Volleyball Tigers fell to the Cabool Lady Bulldogs Tuesday night at the SHS gym in three straight sets: 25-22, 25-14 and 25-16. Salem falls to 2-2 in the SCA Conference while Cabool remains undefeated in conference play at 4-0. Salem is now 10-11-1 on the year and they will be at Willow Springs for another SCA Conference battle Thursday night at 6:30. Cabool improved to 19-5-1 on the year.

After losing the first set to the Cabool JV Lady Bulldogs, 25-19, the Salem Lady JV Volleyball Tigers battled back in the 2nd set from a six-point deficit to win, 26-24; then took the 3rd set by a 15-13 score. They will be at Willow Springs Thursday to start play at 5:00.

The Bunker Cross Country Teams will be at Ellington today for a meet starting at 4:00.
