The Salem Lady Softball Tigers were shutout by the Willow Springs Lady Bears Tuesday, 2-0. The Lady Tigers will travel to Owensville Thursday afternoon to face the Dutchgirls at 4:30. Salem is 6-9 on the season.

The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers lost to St. Clair Monday at the SHS Gym in three games. Salem won the first game, 27-25, then lost the second game 9-25. The third game went to St. Clair in a hard fought battle, 25-27. On Tuesday night, Salem lost to the Mountain View-Liberty Lady Eagles in two straight games: 8-25 and 19-25. The Lady Tigers will host Mountain Grove this Thursday night in SCA play starting at 6:00 with the JV action. That action can be heard on KSMO Radio and online at ksmoradio.com.

Christian Yelich homered and drove in six runs, and the surging Milwaukee Brewers hurt St. Louis’ playoff chances with a 12-4 victory over the Cardinals on Tuesday night. Ryan Braun went deep twice and Jesus Aguilar also connected as Milwaukee won for the fifth time in six games. With the loss, the Cardinals fell out of the second wild card position to Colorado. The Cards and Brewers play again tonight at 6:20 on KSMO.

Hunter Dozier led off the ninth inning with a tie-breaking home run, lifting the Kansas City Royals to a 4-3 win over the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday night. The Royals have won three of their last four games. The Royals will play Cincinnati again tonight.

The St. Louis Blues were shutout by the Washington Capitals Tuesday night, 4-0 in preseason play. Their record is 3-2.
