The St. Louis Blues and Chicago Blackhawks renewed their rivalry for the 2026 season last night in the United Center. Late in the first Mason McTavish scored the first goal of the game and put the Blues on top early. The Blackhawks responded in the second with a pair of goals. Then during a mostly scoreless third with just over a minute to play the Blackhawks extended their lead 3-1. The Blues didn’t go quietly, and with 38 seconds left brought the game back within one courtesy of a Connor McMichael goal. The Blackhawks slammed the door closed with their second empty net goal with three seconds left on the clock, defeating the Blues 4-2. Tomorrow night the Blues will have their home opener against the San Jose Sharks with puck drop at 7:00.
