The Licking Wildcats took advantage of seven walks, three hit batsmen and four Salem errors to beat the Tigers Tuesday in Salem, 5-1. Salem out hit Licking, 5-3 in the game, but couldn’t overcome the deficit. Reese Dodson went 2-3 in the game for the Tigers who will be at Potosi to face the Trojans Thursday afternoon at 4:30.

The City of Salem Youth Baseball-Softball and T-Ball signups are going on right now at the Salem Community Center@The Armory. These leagues are open to all children 14 years of age and under. Registration will be held through April 12th for $25 per child. The league will start the last week of May and wrap up before July 4th. The St. Louis Cardinals beat the Memphis Red Birds Monday night, 6-3 in their final exhibition game. Marcel Ozuna homered for St. Louis in the game. They will open the regular season Thursday afternoon at Milwaukee. Miles Mikolas will the Cards opening day pitcher.

The St. Louis Cardinals announced that Brett Cecil, Carlos Martínez, Luke Gregerson, infielder Jedd Gyorko and outfielder Justin Williams will start the year on the 10-day disabled list.

The Kansas City Royals lost to the Omaha Storm Chasers Monday night in their final exhibition game of the spring by a 3-2 score as Omaha scored in the bottom of the 9th inning to get the win. The Royals will open their regular season Thursday. Brad Keller will be the opening day starter for Kansas City against the Chicago White Sox.
