The Cardinals scored six runs in the 1st inning and added five more in the 2nd inning as they pounded the Florida Marlins, 11-4 Tuesday. Dexter Fowler had two hits and three RBI to lead the Red Birds who are now 8-8 on the spring. The Cards take on Houston today.

The Oakland A’s scored five runs in the 1st inning and held off a large surge by Kansas City en route to a 9-8 win. The Royals will face the Chicago Cubs today.

The signups for the Salem Parks and Recreation Department Spring Church Co-ed Softball League will end on March 23rd. The league will begin on April 2nd at the Al Brown Fields. The cost is $250.00 per team put on the field and the team must be comprised of at least three men or women playing on the field at one time for each team.

The City of Salem Parks and Recreation Department is currently holding signups for their Youth Baseball and Softball Leagues. The cost is $25 per child for all boys and girls ages 4 through 14. You can sign up your child at the Salem Community Center@The Armory during regular business hours (8:00 to 4:30, Monday through Friday). The league will begin on May 29th.
