Paul Goldschmidt’s two-run homer in the 3rd inning and the five-inning shutout pitching of rookie Mathew Liberatore gave the St. Louis Cardinals a 3-1 win in the first game of the split doubleheader Tuesday. In the second game, Miles Mikolas pitched 8 2/3rds innings of no-hit ball before Cal Mitchell doubled to center field to break up the no-hitter as St. Louis swept the doubleheader winning the second game, 9-1. Paul Goldschmidt was 4-4 with two home runs and five RBI in the second game. Brendon Donovan also had four hits in the game for the Cardinals and Tommy Edman hit a leadoff homer in the game finishing with three hits. The Cards go for the four-game sweep tonight at 5:50 on KSMO Radio.

The San Francisco Giants scored three runs in the 6th inning and held off an 8th inning rally to beat the Kansas City Royals Tuesday night, 4-2. The Royals will face the Giants, who have won the last two over Kansas City, will be this afternoon.
