Mackenna Rodgers from St. James served the Lady Tigers to 2-0 match win over the Salem Lady Tigers Tuesday night at the SHS Gym. She scored 22 points serving in the two games played. Salem lost 16-25 and 15-25. In the JV match, Salem lost the first game, 22-25, then Salem won the next two by scores of 25-16 and 25-22. The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers match scheduled at Bunker this Thursday evening at 6:00 has been moved to the Salem High School due to the gym floor at Bunker being resurfaced. The match next week against Bunker will also be at Salem. The varsity contests in both of those meetings will be held at 6:00 with the limited JV contest to follow.

TIME IS RUNNING OUT to register your 1st through 6th grade boy or girl in the City of Salem Youth Flag Football Program for $35.00. Registration is being held at the Salem Community Center @ The Armory during regular business hours through this Friday. Games this year will be played Saturdays starting on September 29th and going through October 20th. The St. Louis Cardinals announced that they have named Mike Shildt as the team’s Field Manager, removing his interim title on Tuesday.

Supported by two-run homers from Jose Martinez and Tyler O’Neill on Tuesday, Jack Flaherty kept the Cardinals rolling with a seven-inning performance that lifted the club to a 5-2 victory over the Pirates. The Cardinals will play the Pirates again tonight starting at 6:20 on KSMO Radio.

Adalberto Mondesi homered to spur a five-run frame and the Kansas City Royals beat the Tigers 6-2 Tuesday night. The Royals and Tigers will play this afternoon at 1:15 at Kaufmann Stadium.
