St. Louis Cardinal pitcher Jack Flaherty pitched seven strong innings giving up only three hits while striking out seven, and combined with Andrew Miller and Carlos Martinez to shut out the Kansas City Royals Tuesday, 2-0. Flaherty has now pitched 23 consecutive scoreless innings in evening his record at 6-6. Glenn Sparkman pitched well for Kansas City giving up two runs on four hits in six innings and only one run was earned. Paul Goldschmidt had a sacrifice fly in the 1st inning and Tommy Edman drove in Lane Thomas with a run in the 3rd inning. With the win, the Cardinals are back to within one game of the 1st place Chicago Cubs and have won four games in a row. The Cardinals and Royals meet again tonight at Kaufmann Stadium at 6:20 on KSMO Radio.
