Former Salem Tiger Athlete Evan Mendenhall was named the Division III Track and Field “Athlete of the Week” for the week of April 16th through the 22nd. Mendenhall, who is just a freshman, runs for the Mineral Area College Running Cards. Congratulations to Evan!!

The Salem Baseball Tigers game with Sullivan Eagles Tuesday was postponed and no rescheduled date has been determined.

The Salem Baseball Classic will be held this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Salem High School Baseball Field Complex with round robin play in two pools. Pool A games will be starting at 11:30 Thursday morning, while Pool B games will be held Friday morning starting at 11:30 in the morning with Salem playing Licking. The Salem Tigers will also play at 4:30 Friday afternoon against Waynesville. Pool A teams are Cuba, Mountain Grove, and Pacific. Saturday, the 5th Place game will begin at 11:30 in the morning, the 3rd Place game will start at 2:00, and the Championship game will be played at 4:30, all at the Salem High School Baseball Field Complex.

The Salem Lady Softball Tigers game with Thayer Tuesday in Salem was postponed and rescheduled for Thursday, April 30th at the Salem City Park. The game was originally scheduled for April 20th, then rescheduled for April 28th, and now has been rescheduled again for this Thursday at 4:30. The Lady Bobcats are 6-0 in the SCA Conference while Salem is 4-2 in SCA play. Salem is 13-6 on the year while Thayer is 14-4.

The Salem Lady Softball Tigers have been seeded 2nd in the State Class 2, District 3 tournament that will be held in Potosi. Salem will face Kingston at 4:30 on Thursday, May 7th. Houston was seeded 1st in the district on the strength of their win over Salem this year. All the winners of the first round will play in the district semi-final games on Monday, May 11th at Potosi with the first game starting at 4:00.

Nolan Gorman and Victor Scott II got the Cardinals off to a good start yesterday with a pair of solo home runs against the Pirates. The Cardinals continued to round the bases through the sixth before the Pirates could respond. While the Pirates out hit the Cardinals 13 to 12 the Cardinals converted more hits to runs defeating the Pirates 11-7. With the Cards up 2-0 on the series, game three starts tonight at 5:40.
