The Salem Football Tigers Friday night started the game out with a 72-yard drive that took 7:32 off the clock culminating in a one-yard touchdown run by Kaiden Dubois, but the offense sputtered after the touchdown and Knob Noster tied the game in the second quarter on five-yard run by Sam Livingston. Then just before half, Panther defender Ray Goldsby intercepted an Everett Campbell pass and raced 53-yards for a pick-six which gave the Panthers a 13-7 halftime edge as they went on to beat the Salem Tigers Friday night at the SHS Football Field, 25-7. Salem will host the Houston Tigers this Friday night in their first SCA Conference contest of the year starting at 7:00. Salem enters the game with an 0-2 record. The Salem Tigers JV Football team will host Cabool today. Salem is 0-1 on the season.

The St. Louis Cardinals, coming off a dramatic pinch-hit two-run homer Sunday in the 8th inning by Albert Pujols that allowed the Cards to win 2-0 and sweep the series with the Chicago Cubs, struggled against the Washington Nationals Monday and could manage only three hits in losing to the Nationals, 6-0. The Cards face Washington tonight at 5:50 on KSMO.

The Kansas City Royals coming off taking two of three games from the Detroit Tigers over the weekend, started a three-game series against the Cleveland Guardians Monday. Royals’ rookie Drew Waters hit his first Major League home run but the Royals lost in 10 innings to Cleveland, 6-5. The two teams will play again tonight in K.C.
