Gracie Lawson’s two-run homer in the 5th inning proved to be the difference as the Potosi Lady Trojans held on to beat the Salem Lady Tigers, 4-3 at Potosi in the district semi-final. Delaney Owen homered for Salem in the loss and they finished the year with a 7-8-1 record.

The Salem Baseball Tigers fell to Mountain Grove Monday in a make-up game, 2-0. Salem falls to 7-16 on the year and they will face the Cuba Wildcats Saturday in the first round of district play at noon at Owensville. The game can be heard on KSMO Radio AM 1340 and 95.7 FM, ksmoradio.com and the KSMO Stream Facebook Page. The game will also be video streamed on MSHSAA.TV. There is a charge to watch the game. Admission for anyone six years of age and older is $6.00 per person.

Willson Contreras had two hits and two RBI in his return to Wrigley Field Monday night as the St. Louis Cardinals won their second straight game and for the first time this year an opening game in a series as they beat the Chicago Cubs, 3-1. The two teams play again tonight at 5:45 on KSMO.

The Kansas City Royals scored eight runs in the 6th inning en route to a 12-5 thumping of the Chicago White Sox Monday night. MJ Melendez had a two-run homer and drove in four runs for the Royals who had 14 hits in the game. They will face the White Sox again tonight.
