A four-run sixth inning propelled the West Plains Zizzers to a 10-3 win over the Salem Baseball Tigers Monday at the Salem High School Baseball Field Complex. Sylis Dubois had two hits and two RBI for Salem who had only three hits on the day. Zizzer pitchers struck out 16 Salem hitters Monday as the Tigers fell for the 7th straight game and look to get on track today against the Cuba Wildcats starting at 4:30. Salem enters the game with a 5-13 overall record. The game will be broadcast on KSMO Radio (AM 1340 and 95.7 FM) and audio streamed on KSMO Media (ksmoradio.com, KSMO Stream Facebook and KSMO YouTube) starting at 4:15 with Tiger Talk and Coach Tony Edwards.

The Salem Baseball JV Tigers fell to West Plains Monday, 10-0. The Salem JV is 3-7 on the year and they will face Cuba today after the varsity game.

The Salem Lady Softball Tigers game with Plato scheduled for today has been cancelled and will not be made up. The next game for Salem will be in the State Class 2, District 3 Tournament that will be held in Potosi. Salem will face Kingston at 4:30 on Thursday in the third of three games that day. Salem is seeded 2nd in the tournament.

In the Class 1, District 5 tennis individual play held Thursday, April 30th, Blayne Canaday and Braiden Gapsch were named All-District after finishing third in the individual doubles play. Only the top two finishers go to state. In the team districts, Salem defeated Houston Monday, 5 matches to 3, and moved on to face Rogersville today.

The SCA Middle School Track and Field Championships for boys and girls will be held today starting at 3:00 at Mountain Grove.

After last night’s loss to the LA Dodgers the Cardinals bounced back with a 6-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers. The defining moment in the game was a Iván Herrera double to bring home Nathan Church, Pedro Pagés and JJ Wetherholt in the bottom of the fourth. The Cards are in the middle of a 17 game stretch and are currently 21-15 on the season. Tonight is game two against the Brewers and you can listen on KSMO Radio 1340 AM & 95.7 FM. The Salem Tigers are currently scheduled to play in Cuba, if that game is canceled due to impending weather, the Cardinals game will be carried live with pregame coverage at 5:50. Should the weather cooperate for Salem Tiger Baseball, Cardinals Baseball will be on a broadcast delay following the Tiger’s game.
