The Cardinals scored two runs in the 5th inning and made it stand up as they beat Washington Monday, 2-1. The Red Birds will play the Miami Marlins this afternoon. The Cards are now 4-6 during spring training.

The St. Louis Cardinals announced they have agreed to a six-year contract through 2023 with infielder Paul DeJong that also includes club options for both 2024 and 2025. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed. Last year, DeJong hit .285 batting mark with 25 HR’s, 65 RBI and a team-best .532 slugging pct. in his 108 games with St. Louis after being called up form the minors.

The Kansas City Royals will face the San Diego Padres this afternoon after having Monday off.
