The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the 1st quarter, and was then powered with a 23-point 3rd quarter as they never trailed in the contest, defeating the Owensville Dutchgirls Monday night, 62-43 in the first round of Class 4, District 9 play. Salem was led in scoring by Ashton Bowers with 18 points followed by Bella Jadwin with 15 and Savannah Manthey 11 points. Salem will now play the #1 seed Fatima Lady Comets this Wednesday night at Fatima High School in Westphalia at 6:00. Admission to that game will be $5.00.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers will play the Owensville Dutchmen tonight at 6:00 in district play. Admission to the game is $5.00 and debit and credit cards will be accepted to allow for contactless pay. Please be prepared to wear a mask when walking in the gym and to your seat, restroom or concession stand. You can also watch the game on MSHSAA.TV for $10. Zach Sanford had two goals as the St. Louis Blues beat the Anaheim Ducks Monday night, 5-4. The Blues received goals from David Perron, Jordan Kyrou and Dakota Joshua scored his first NHL goal. The Blues and Ducks will play again Wednesday night.

The St. Louis Cardinals will play Miami at noon today after having Monday off.

Kansas City banged out 16 hits and scored 8 runs as they beat the Cleveland Indians Monday by the score of 8-6. The Royals will play the Chicago Cubs this afternoon in Arizona starting at 2:00.
