The St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates kicked off a new series last night. The Cards scored first, but the Pirates took a two-run lead in the top of the third with a pair of home runs. The Cardinals responded with an exciting fifth inning, scoring five runs on four hits. Pittsburgh kept the game close, tying it up at six in the top of the ninth. Then, Alec Burleson hit a solo walk-off home run to secure the victory for the Cardinals, 7-6. The Cardinals and Pirates will play game two tonight. The Kansas City Royals had a difficult outing in Chicago yesterday. The Royals managed only two hits on the night and were shutout by the White Sox, 7-0. Kansas City will look to redeem themselves tonight at 6:40.
The Missouri Football Tigers open their 2025 football regular season against Central Arkansas at Faurot Field Thursday night starting at 6:30. It will be the first of 12 games this year for Missouri who went 10-3 last year culminating with a 27-24 win over Iowa in the Music City Bowl.
