The St. Louis Cardinals and Philadelphia Phillies started their three game series yesterday evening. The Phillies got off to a good start and by the end of the fifth they were shutting out the Red Birds 3-0. In the sixth, Alec Burleson hit a two-run single to get the Cards back into the game. The real excitement for the Cardinals came in the eighth, down by four, it was Alec Burleson again bringing home Iván Herrera, this time on a double. Masyn Winn and José Fermín each tallied an RBI to bring the Cardinals within one. Despite the late surge the Phillies held on for the 6-5 victory. Game two will be live tonight on KSMO Radio, 1340 AM & 95.7 FM, with pregame coverage starting at 5:50.
