Boone Schrader pitched the distance for the Salem Tigers giving up one run on four hits while striking out 11 as the Salem Tigers beat the Willow Springs Bears Monday, 3-1. Baylor Petty and Noah Leathers had RBI singles for Salem and Eli Wethy drove in a run with a ground ball. Salem is now 2-5 on the year and 1-0 in the SCA Conference. Paul DeJong scored on a passed ball in the top of the 11th inning as the St. Louis Cardinals rallied past Pittsburgh 6-5 on Monday to spoil the Pirates’ home opener after tying the game in 8th inning on a double by Tyler O’Neil, and then again in the 9th inning on a double by Jose Martinez. Kolten Wong hit a two-run home run for St. Louis The Cardinals will have the day off today before facing the Pirates Wednesday night in this short two-game series.

The Kansas City Royals had Monday off and will host the Minnesota Twins in the first game of a two game series tonight. The Royals and twins are 2-1 to start the season.

Ryan O’Reilly scored the only goal in a shootout and the St. Louis Blues beat Colorado, 3-2 Monday night. Jaden Schwartz and Vladimir Tarasenko scored in regulation for the Blues, who improved to 7-1-0 in their last eight games. The Blues are now in second place in the Central Division. The Blues will be at Chicago Wednesday night at 6:30 on ksmoradio.com.
