The Salem Lady Softball Tigers will be at Vienna today at 5:00, weather permitting. Salem enters the game with an 0-3 record.

Athletic Director Phillip Karr has announced the August 30th Lady Softball game against Alton that was postponed due to rain, has been rescheduled for Tuesday, October 2nd at 4:30.

The Eminence Lady Red Wings beat Salem Tuesday night in a hard fought match. Eminence won the first contest, 25-20, then struggled to edge the Tigers in the second game,. 26-24. Salem is now 1-2 on the year. The Salem Volleyball Tigers will host Bunker tonight with the varsity game at 6:00 with the JV game to follow.

The Salem Cross Country Team will be participating in the Steve Waggoner Invitational in Salem today at 4:00 in their first meet of the year.

The Salem Middle School Tigers football teams will host Willow Springs at 5:00 today at the SHS Football Field. It is their first game of the year.

Coach Brian McNamee invites all to the Salem Tiger Football Parade that will be held Friday, September 7th starting on 4th Street downtown. If you would like to have a float, car, walking delegation or representation in the parade, call Dolly Howard at 573-368-6364.

Matt Adams homered twice and the St. Louis Cardinals held off the Washington Nationals 7-6 on Wednesday night at Nationals Park. The Cardinals earned a hard-fought series win that put them in a position to gain ground in the National League’s crowded Wild Card race. The Cardinals will have the day off before starting a three game series in Detroit Friday night.

Corey Kluber became the first 18-game winner in the majors this season, striking out 10 and pitching the Cleveland Indians past the Kansas City Royals 3-1 on Wednesday. Kluber (18-7) allowed one run and two hits in 6 2/3 innings. Brad Keller for the Royals allowed three runs in seven-plus innings and he lost for the first time since August 7th. The Royals will have today off.
