The Salem Lady Softball Tigers shutout the St. James Lady Tigers in a four inning contest at St. James Wednesday, 16-0. The JV also won Wednesday by the score of 9-3. The Lady Tigers will be at Alton this afternoon starting at 4:30.

The Salem Lady Volleyball Varsity Tigers started their season Wednesday night at St. James and lost to the Lady Tigers in two straight games, 10-25 and 15-25. The JV also fell to St. James in three games losing the first game, 20-25, winning the second game, 25-20, before losing the third game, 14-25. Salem will be off until Monday night when they host Winona at 6:00.

Kevin Pillar’s 8th inning two-run home run gave the San Francisco Giants the lead for good as they held on to beat the St. Louis Cardinals Wednesday night, 9-8. Paul Goldschmidt had a double and triple and drove in four runs for the Red Birds who rallied from 4-0 and 7-4 deficits to take an 8-7 lead after seven innings. The Cards will play the Giants today starting at 11:20 on KSMO Radio.

]Ryan McBroom who was acquired on Saturday from the Yankees, delivered his first Major League RBI in the Kansas City 5-4 victory over Detroit Wednesday night. The Royals will play the Tigers this afternoon.
