St. Louis Cardinals Cardinal Manager Mike Schildt was named the National League “Manager of the Year” Award Tuesday night. Schildt beat out Milwaukee Brewer Manager Greg Counsell and the Atlanta Braves Manager Brian Snitker. Counsell actually received 13 first-place votes to Shildt’s 10, but Shildt had more voting points (95) than Counsell (88) by virtue of his 14 second-place votes to Counsell’s six. This was only the second election in Manager of the Year voting history in which the winner did not receive the most first-place votes.

The St. Louis Blues recalled Klim Kostin from the San Antonio Rampage on Wednesday. Kostin has three goals and five assists in 14 games in the AHL this season. St. Louis Blues President Doug Armstrong also announced Monday the team has signed forwards Troy Brouwer and Jamie McGinn to professional tryouts this week.
