The Salem Winter Sports Banquet will be held this evening at 6:30 at the Salem High School Cafeteria. The banquet will honor the boys and girls basketball teams as well as the cheerleaders.

The Missouri Basketball Tigers, who earned the 5th seed in the SEC Tournament, will face Georgia this afternoon at about 2:30 after the Bulldogs beat Vanderbilt Wednesday night in the play-in game by the score of 78-62. The Bulldogs are the 12th seed. You can hear the game this afternoon at 2:00 on KSMO starting with the pre-game show.

The St. Louis Cardinals scored two runs in the 7th inning and got another in the 8th inning that proved to be the difference as they went on to beat the Washington Nationals, 4-3 Wednesday. Greg Garcia homered off Max Scherzer in the game for St. Louis. The Red Birds are 5-6 on the spring and they will play Miami today.

The Kansas City Royals lost their second straight game as the Milwaukee Brewers beat KC yesterday, 10-6. Kansas City will play the Chicago White Sox this afternoon in the desert.

The Kansas City Royals signed free agent outfielder John Jay to a one-year deal worth three million dollars. Jay is expected to help share the centerfield duties with Alex Gordon. Jay hit .296 last year with the Chicago Cubs.

The St. Louis Blues will try to right the ship as they travel to the west coast for three tough Western Conference games starting tonight when they will battle the San Jose Sharks. The Blues have slipped two points out of a playoff spot. You can hear the game tonight on KSMO beginning at 9:00.

The Salem Parks and Recreation Department is holding team registrations through March 23rd for the 2018 Spring Church Co-ed Softball League that will begin on April 2nd at the Al Brown Fields. The cost is $250.00 per team put on the field and the team must be comprised of at least three men or women playing on the field at one time for each team.
