At the Salem Spring Athletic Banquet held at the high school Tuesday night, Athletic Director Clay Moody announced the winner of the Tiger and Lady Tiger Awards for the best boy and girl athletes for the year as voted by this year’s coaches. This year’s Tiger award went to Gunner Konkel and the Lady Tiger Award went to Savannah Manthey. Other awards announced by Track and Field Coach Derek Freeman were for the Boy “Best on Track” Award which went to Wyatt Campbell and the Boy “Best in Field” Award that went to Bryson May. For the girls in track and field, the Girl “Best on Track” Award went to Rebekah Pipp and the Girl “Best in Field” Award went to Savannah Manthey. In baseball, Coach Tony Edwards gave out the Gold Glove Award to catcher Haiden Sanders, the Silver Slugger Award to Kash Howard and the Top Gun Award went to Bronson Crocker. Tennis Coach Will Hubbs handed out three awards for tennis and they were the “Player Of The Year” Award which went to Logan Hubbs, and two “Tennis Tiger” Awards: one to Gunnar Konkel and the other to Will Christensen.

The Healthy Dent County Fitness Center at 1200 West Rolla Road will be holding a “Hoop Fitness +Flow Beginner Adult Series” class starting this and every Saturday morning in June at 8:40 and ending around 9:30. The class is a month long class and will offer the fundamentals of using a hula hoop that will tighten your core and tone your back, arms, chest as well as increase your range of motion. Both the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Royals were off Wednesday and they have the day off again today before getting back to action Friday night. The Cards will start a three-game series at Pittsburgh while the Royals will host Colorado.
