OOPS! The Salem Varsity Football Camp dates provided yesterday for the varsity football team were incorrect. It should have read for students in the 9th through 12th grade, the Salem Tigers Varsity Football non-contact camp will be held July 9th through the 20th from 8:00 until 11:00 in the morning while the contact camp will be held from July 23rd through the 27th also from 8:00 until 11:00 in the morning. The cost of the entire camp is $30 and that includes a camp T-Shirt. Contact Coach Brian McNamee for more information about the football camps at 247-3682. We apologize for the error.

The 3rd Annual SMDH Foundation Golf Tournament at Spring Creek Golf Course last Friday was a big hit! A total of 21 teams participated in the tournament that raised approximately $15,000 to be used for capital equipment needs by SMDH Hospital. The hospital would like to thank all that supported the tournament including participants, sponsors and donors; and also a big thanks goes out to the SMDH staff that helped make this tournament possible. The winning team from the morning round was (Team Hines) made up of Tim Hines, Zach Hines, Brent Hines and Bob Jenkins with a score of 51; and the afternoon round winners Chilton Oil comprised of Doug Arts, Mike Johnson, Daniel Black and Stuart Carmier with a score of 47. Congratulations to all those who made the tournament a success.

Eric Lauer carried a shutout into the sixth inning, Manuel Margot had three hits and the San Diego Padres beat the St. Louis Cardinals 4-2 on Wednesday night to win their fifth straight series. The Cards will be off today before starting a three game series with the Chicago Cubs Friday night.

Tyler Mahle allowed three hits while pitching into the seventh, Adam Duvall hit a ninth-inning grand slam and the Cincinnati Reds beat the skidding Kansas City Royals 7-0 on Wednesday night. The Royals have the day off and will start a three game series with Houston Friday at Kaufmann Stadium.
