The Salem Lady Softball Tigers are scheduled to host the Alton Lady Comets this afternoon at 4:30 at the Salem City Park Field. Salem enters the game with a 0-2 record. You can hear the game on KSMO radio and online at ksmoradio.com.

The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers will host the Bunker Lady Eagles tonight at 6:00 at the SHS Gym. This game was originally scheduled to be in Bunker, but was moved as they are refinishing their gym floor. The varsity contest will be at 6:00 followed by a limited JV contest.

Coach Brian McNamee invites all to the Salem Tiger Football Parade that will be held Friday, September 7th starting on 4th Street downtown. If you would like to have a float, car, walking delegation or representation in the parade, call Dolly Howard at 573-368-6364.

TIME IS RUNNING OUT to register your 1st through 6th grade boy or girl in the City of Salem Youth Flag Football Program for $35.00. Registration is being held at the Salem Community Center @ The Armory during regular business hours from 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM through this Friday. Games this year will be played Saturdays starting on September 29th and going through October 20th. Trevor Williams struck out a career-high eight batters over six scoreless innings on Wednesday night, leading the Pirates to a 2-0 win over the Cardinals at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals will wrap up their series with the Pirates tonight starting at 5:20 on KSMO Radio.

Adalberto Mondesi hit a two-run homer and finished with four RBIs, while Alex Gordon hit a two-run homer and Brett Phillips had a pair of RBIs as the Kansas City Royals routed the Detroit Tigers, 9-2 on Wednesday to sweep their two-game series. Danny Duffy (8-11) gave up two hits and his only run in the first inning, then cruised the rest of the way striking out six while working around a trio of walks in his six innings of work. The Royals will have the day off today.
