Ava Quarterback Kennon Pitts scored two touchdowns and had two TD passes as the Bears beat the Salem Tigers Friday night at the Salem Homecoming game, 34-13. Braxton Swearengin of Ava scored two touchdowns and added two 2-point conversions in the game, while Salem had touchdowns from Jake Gover and Ryan Halinar. Salem falls to 1-4 on the year and 0-3 in the SCA Conference and they will be at Willow Springs Friday night.

The Salem JV Football Tigers will host the Ava JV Bears tonight starting at 6:00 at Bill Schuchardt Stadium.

The Lady Volleyball Tigers will host the St. Clair Lady Bulldogs tonight at the SHS Gym. The night will start with a freshman team contest at 4:45 before the JV teams play starting around 5:30. The varsity match should begin close to 7:00 and it can be heard on KSMO Radio (AM 1340 and FM 95.7) and video streamed on KSMO Media (ksmoradio.com, the KSMO Stream Facebook Page and the KSMO YouTube Page). The broadcast is expected to start around 6:45 with Tiger Talk and Coach Mackenzie Stoner. Salem enters the match with three straight wins and are 10-9-1 on the year.

The Bunker Lady Volleyball Eagles fell to South Iron in the 3rd Place match of the Black River Tournament held last week. The Lady Eagles beast Viburnum in their first match, 2-0; then fell to Ellington in their next match, 0-2. Bunker is 4-12-1 on the year and they will be hosting Clearwater Tuesday night starting at 6:15.

Mississippi State scored two touchdowns in the 4th quarter to come back and beat Missouri, 31-24 Saturday night at David Wade Stadium. Missouri trailed 14-0 early in the game, took the lead in the 3rd quarter for the first time, 17-14, and led by a 24-17 score to start the 4th quarter, but fell short on their last drive to tie the game. The Tigers fall to 3-1 and 1-1 in the SEC Conference. Missouri will host Florida Saturday afternoon at 2:30 at Faurot Field.

The St. Louis Cardinals were swept by the Milwaukee Brewers in their final series of the season, 8-4 on Friday, 3-2 on Saturday, and 6-4 yesterday afternoon. The Cardinals end the year with a 77-85 record.
