The Salem Lady Softball Tigers won the Cuba Softball Tournament Saturday afternoon wining all three games they played. They blasted St. James in the first game, 20-3 before edging Neelyville, 4-3 in the second game. In the third game of the day, the Lady Tigers swamped Cuba, 24-9. Salem improves to 9-2 on the year and they will host the Lebanon Lady Jackets Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 at the Salem City Park.

The Thayer Bobcats forced four turnovers, blocked two punts including one for a touchdown, and made two goal line stands in beating Salem Friday night, 36-0. Salem falls to 3-1 on the year and 1-1 in the SCA Conference. The Tigers will travel to Ava Friday night to face the Bears in SCA play at 7:00.

The Missouri Tiger’s defense shutdown the South Carolina running game and scored twice to lead Missouri to a 34-14 win. Cale Garrett recovered a fumble in the end zone and Ronnell Perkins ran an interception back 101 yards for another score for the defense for Missouri. Quarterback Kelly Bryant was 19-33 for 227 yards and two touchdowns, plus he ran the ball for 77 yards. Missouri is now 3-1 on the year and they will host Troy this Saturday at a time to be determined.

Paul Goldschmidt’s RBI double in the top of the 9th inning spurred the St. Louis Cardinals to a come-from behind win over Chicago Sunday, 3-2. The Cards swept the four game series in Chicago and with the win clinched a playoff berth. The Cardinals will be at Arizona tonight to face the Diamondbacks for a three game series in the final week of the regular season. You can hear the game on KSMO Radio at 7:45.

Minnesota scored six runs in the 1st inning, then hung on as the Kansas City rallied throughout the game but came up short in a 12-8 loss Sunday. The Royals will have the day off today.

Jaden Schwartz, Alex Petrangelo, Tyler Bozak, Klim Kostin and Sammy Blais all scored Sunday as the St. Louis Blues beat Columbus, 5-3. The Blues are 3-1 in the preseason as they also won Friday night, 4-3 over Winnipeg. The Blues will host Dallas Tuesday night. That game will NOT be heard on KSMO due to Cards baseball.
