The Salem Football Tigers lost to the Thayer Bobcats Friday night by the score of 36-7 as Thayer scored 22 unanswered points after Salem closed the gap to seven points in the 2nd quarter. The loss drops Salem to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the SCA. The Tigers will be home Friday night to face the Ava Bears at 7:00.

The Salem Lady Softball Tigers lost two of three games at the Cuba Tournament Saturday as they beat St. James, 6-4 to open tournament play before losing to Neelyville, 10-1. The Lady Tigers then lost to the Lady Wildcats of Cuba, 8-3. The Lady Tigers are 3-6 on the year and they will be at Steelville Tuesday at 4:30.

The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers lost to Winona Friday night in two straight games, 21-25 and 15-25. On Saturday at the Cabool Invitational, Salem went 3-2 as they lost to Mountain Grove in their first match, 11-25 and 18-25. The Lady Tigers beat Greenfield, 25-17 and 25-20; then beat Plato, 25-22 and 25-22. Salem went on to beat Ava next, 25-15 and 25-16 before losing to Neosho in three games: 19-25, 25-19 and 17-25. Salem is now 5-7 on the year and they will be at Willow Springs Tuesday night at 6:00 for SCA Conference Play for their first SCA game of the year.

Tucker McCann kicked the game-winning field goal as time expired to lift Missouri to a 40-37 victory over Purdue on Saturday night. McCann was 4 of 5 on field goals, including the game-winner from 25 yards. Drew Lock finished 26-of-43 passing for 375 yards with three touchdowns and an interception for Missouri. He ran for negative-10 yards and a TD. Missouri (3-0) is off to its best start since 2015. The Tigers open SEC play against Georgia on Saturday. That game will be heard on delayed basis at 3:00 on KSMO.

Adam Wainwright pitched two-hit balls over six innings for his first win in five months and the St. Louis Cardinals salvaged the finale of a four-game series with a 5-0 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday night. The Cardinals travel to Atlanta to face the Braves tonight starting at 5:40 on KSMO Radio.

Tyler Austin hit one of Minnesota’s four home runs and helped the Twins to a 9-6 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Sunday that avoided a four-game sweep. Adalberto Mondesi had a two-run homer for the Royals who will start their final road trip of the year tonight as they will be in Pittsburgh.

Patrick Mahomes tied a franchise record with six touchdown passes and the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Pittsburgh Steelers, 42-37 on Sunday. The 22-year-old Mahomes finished 23 of 28 for 326 yards as the Chiefs (2-0) won in Pittsburgh for the first time since 1986.
