Running back Reuben Hovey ran for 90 yards and a touchdown, while quarterback Hayden Ragsdale in the second half rushed for 81 more yards and a score as the Salem Football Tigers won their first game of the year beating the Willow Springs Bears Friday night, 28-14. Tobey Gover also had a rushing touchdown while Evan Mendenhall intercepted a Jace Rodgers pass and returned it 22 yards for a score. Salem is now 1-5 and they will be at Mountain Grove Friday night at 7:00 to face the Panthers in SCA Conference play.
The Salem Tiger JV Football Tigers will be at Willow Springs this evening at 6:00 while the Salem Freshman Football Tigers will be at Sullivan with that game starting at 5:00.
The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers will host the Bunker Lady Eagles tonight at the SHS Gym and it will be Senior Night. Seniors will be honored before the varsity game which is scheduled to begin at 5:30. Salem is 5-14-2 going into the match while Bunker is 10-6-4. There may be a JV set or two played after the varsity contest, depending on the lengthy of the varsity contest.
