Ashton Bowers allowed two hits and one unearned run Saturday as the Salem Lady Tigers took advantage of 12 walks and three girls hit by a pitch to beat the Licking Lady Wildcats, 11-1 to move the district semi-finals against the Potosi Lady Trojans today at 4:30. Brooke Mahurin had two singles and two RBI while Alexis White drove in two runs with a base hit and a walk. Salem is 7-7-1 on the year. The game today can be heard on KSMO Radio AM 1340 and 95.7 FM, ksmoradio.com and the KSMO Stream Facebook Page. The game will also be video streamed on MSHSAA.TV. There is a charge to watch the game. Admission to the game for anyone six years of age and older is $6.00 per person.

Keyton Cook pitched a complete game two-hit shutout Saturday in the 3rd place game in the Salem Baseball Classic as the Licking Wildcats beat Salem, 4-0. Salem is now 7-15 on the year and will host the Mountain Grove Panthers today in a makeup game at 4:30. Due to District Softball, KSMO will NOT be carrying the boys game today.

At the Salem Baseball Classic held last week in Salem won by the Pacific Indians, players named to the All-Tournament Team from Salem were Cayden Moody and Kash Howard, Keyton Cook and Keller Davis from Licking, and Levi Jones from Cuba. The MVP of the tournament went to Ethan Simpson of Pacific.

Salem High School Athletic Director Clay Moody has informed KSMO Media the baseball game scheduled Tuesday against Union is not going to be held. There was a schedule mixup so no game will be held.

The Salem Golf Team will be at St. Genevieve this morning to participate in the golf districts.

The Salem Tigers Tennis Team will be at Houston for Districts this afternoon. The match has been starting at 3:00.

The Salem Tigers High School Track Team will be at West Plains today at 4:00 for a meet.

Paul Goldschmidt hit three home runs and drove in four runs Sunday as the St. Louis Cardinals came back from giving up five runs in the 6th inning to score seven runs of their own in the bottom of that inning en route to a 12-6 win over Detroit. The win broke an eight-game losing streak for St. Louis. Brendan Donovan hit a three-run homer for the Cards who will start a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs tonight on KSMO at 5:45 or immediately after Lady Tiger Softball.

The Kansas City Royals beat the Oakland A’s at Kaufmann Stadium Sunday, 5-1 to break a three-game losing streak. Salvador Perez had three hits including a home run for the Royals who will start a four-game series with the Chicago White Sox tonight.
